Bama is in over FSU because..,,

Let’s not forget the public dissing by FSU of the ACC earlier this year over conference expansion. The powers that be thought it was convenient to thumb their nose at their own conference, not to mention the flirtation with private investors to help buy their way out of the ACC grant of rights. Now it so happens you go undefeated and need the ACC and the Florida legislature to put up a fight for you.

So while I feel for the players, their administration failed them big time. Hopefully Stanford and Cal can boost your SOS next year ✌🏾

I hate it for FSU and their players. I really do. Mike Norvell has done a tremendous job down there, especially considering the mess Willie Taggart left. He's a class act and he's built a good program, and honestly they'll do well to hang on to him. His name will probably be near the top of the list for the next "premier" HC job opening that comes around.

That said - their strength of schedule was nowhere remotely close to the other teams in consideration. Their defense is quite good (13th nationally), but they are 45th in total offense including all of the games that Travis played in. They had extremely tight games against mediocre Clemson and Boston College teams with Travis playing. Their best win was the season opener at a "neutral" site against a 3-loss LSU team with an abhorrent defense. They scored a total of 40 points in their last two games and averaged about 225 yards per game on offense in those wins, and neither was against elite competition. The Louisville team they beat just lost to a 7-5 Kentucky team last week, the same team we skull-drug by 28 points a few weeks ago (on the road). The "eye test" just isn't there, and it's very likely that they would be demolished by pretty much anyone else in the field. Even with Travis playing, they are probably still a solid underdog to the other teams in consideration. Georgia will probably beat them by at least 3 scores in the Orange Bowl assuming there aren't too many opt-outs. In their current state they'd probably lose to at least 4-5 SEC teams. We had tight games against mediocre competition too, but we finished the season with a win against the consensus #1 and two-time defending national champ, which should be the ultimate defining factor.

The committee knows all of this, hence their exclusion. Their stated goal is the "four best teams, not the four most deserving". It stinks for FSU, but ultimately they made the correct choice.

So, they're talking about filing a lawsuit over the issue of a group of people deciding amongst themselves that one team is better than another team when their task is to decide which teams are better than other teams? Good luck with that stupid suit.

I'm guessing neither of those guys has the slightest clue how lawsuits actually work.

I remember the joke back in the early 90s, when Florida State joined the ACC: Why did the chicken cross the road? To join the ACC.

FSU joined that conference so they didn't have to play a tough schedule. It looks like that bit them on the rear end. Of course, this would be a non-issue next year, with the expanded playoffs.
I've said for years that the ACC-FSU argument has always been circular nonsense. Back when FSU was dominant and won 99.9% of their ACC games for like a decade the argument was: the ACC is a premier conference because Florida State is one of the premier teams in the country because it dominates the ACC which is a premier conference because Florida State is one of the premier teams in the country because it dominates the ACC which is a premier conference because Florida State is one of the best teams in the country...

We tgot in because we beat the #1 team for two years running, 29 straight wins, and we are the SECC period. We got in because their QB is out and they have a third string QB playing. They looked terrible against UL and barring therir defense killing the OL and Plummer itwas unimpressive. You look at the rules and the riule says IF they have to bring it down to a point they look at KEY PLAYERS missing... fsu would be 8-4 without their starting QB.

Or a clue that one of the stated criteria takes into account unavailable players. And oh by the way, the ACC voted for those criteria. So you're going to sue the Committee for abiding by the rules you helped to put in place?

And oh by the way of that, the playoff would have expanded to 12 teams this year but for the ACC Commissioner loudly nixing the expansion of the playoff. If that had gone through as intended, they'd be complaining about seeding, not being in or out.

Bama is in 100%.

1). Look at the current CFP betting odds, odds don’t lie.
2). SEC holds too much power and influence.
3). CFP fear of FSU blow out loss after TCU last year will kill tv ratings and viewer interest. Money runs the show.
4). CFP afraid sec and big 10 create their own national championship in the future outside of all the other teams. Which really could happed, this is not fantasy.

sec has way too much power….Aside from many more BAMA quality top 25 wins than FSU

rest easy tonight
Tried to tell ya’ll. !!!!

The fear of another TCU type blowout is not easy to overlook. However, it's not like they were just dropped into the championship game, they beat Michigan in the semifinal.
Nobody cares what I think, but to me the team that should have been left out is Texas. I know they beat you guys, which is a monumental thing, but you guys were not settled on a QB. After that win, what did Texas do? They lost to the Sooners, they escaped two or three nobodies, then throttled Tech. You guys beat the undefeated back to back defending national champs. Texas beat a mediocre Okla. State. I thin UT should have been left out.

Too many people simply don’t understand what college football is. They say things like “it works in the NFL” or “literally every other sport does it this way” and they think they’re insults. Meanwhile, I’m over here like “Stop trying to sell me on college football, I’m already a fan” lol. The fact that college football is different than every other sport IS what makes it great.

There are simply too many teams out there, and they can’t possibly all play each other. This means subjectivity is BUILT INTO THE SYSTEM. If you take one look at Bama and FSU’s resumes and can’t see which one is better, then I’m sorry to tell you college football isn’t the sport for you. You don’t get it, and you’re never going to get it. This is why I like Josh Pate so much. He GETS it.

Now that we know the results I can't help but wonder if Sankey's confidence was strong because he knew (via backroom discussions) that an SEC team would be there.

The most interesting aspect to me is GEORGIA's loss to the SEC champ by 3 hurt them with a HUGE DROP far worse than TCU's loss did last year.

I "get" TCU "had" to get into the playoff...but really? Georgia drops five spots on a close loss to the SEC champs, TCU doesn't move AT ALL?
