For us old timers that 10.46 is a 9.56 in the 100 yard race...wow!

Starting as a freshman will be difficult, he's 16, he already skipped a year in school and is skipping his senior year now. Saban would have a lot to say about the dangers of "expectations" but he will be a lot closer to the top of the rotation than he will be to redshirting.

Julio started as a freshman and he still would today, but we also had absolutely no one at his level on our offense at the time. But he'd start over anyone.

Amari was a starter or co-starter but really didn't hit big til the end of the season when blew up. Fun fact he wasn't even our top wr in his class that was Chris black

Ridley started immediately and didn't really blow up 7ntio late, but we also didn't have a real starter at QB for 4 games and that was Derrik Henry season.

None of the Rideout started as freshman but they played a lot. And at least one of the scored a touchdown almost every week. I believe Henry ruggs had almost as many TDs as receptions. None finished very much over 400 yards. Ridley was the big dog that first season. Waddle was not a starter as a freshman but was in the top 4 or 5 rotation and played a lot

Williams is as talented a WR as we've ever had and as dominate a HS talent as the states ever seen (may say the same about Coleman fwiw) if i specifically compared jik to.one of the above guys it'd probably be smitty (similar size route running) but more of waddle elusivness and wiggle after the catch.

Goodness...more wiggle and elusive than Waddle??? Wow!!!

Love the comparison to Smitty. IIRC, he and Ridley were often cited as great route runners. Running great routes gets separation and then if you are elusive it's the kind of stuff you can't teach.

Pardon me, but is Coleman the ex TAMU and current barner verbal?

I’ve watched Williams a lot during the past 2 years and he reminds me of David Palmer. He’s very elusive and plays way above his age. He’s the best player on the field every night and is almost unstoppable.

Yes the same Coleman. If you didn't already, read my post above comparing the 3 best WRs stats for 2023 in the state of Alabama.

Day 1 starter! No matter who comes back. This kid is better now than anyone we have on our roster and that is not a knock on the talent we have. We have a very talented WR room but he will be as good as any we have had and that is saying a lot. Speed of Williams, ability to get open like Smitty, Wiggle of Waddle and even though he isn’t as big yet, physicality of Julio. He has the drive to be the best.

Most likely but we do have a talented WR room coming back. Next year rotation should be

Bond
Prentice
Benson
Law
Hale
Williams
* Burton does have a Covid year left but doubt he comes back

We also have some highly regarded guys like Shazz Preston that haven’t seen the field at all. Who knows if he’ll stay or how he develops but he was really good out of high school

No it’s not that. I know we have something but I checked and we aren’t even in the top 10. I’m just happy Saban’s pedigree wins the day most of the time.
