I think this a really good hire. Now just want to see how he fills out his staff.

I'd love him to bring his OC and his OL coach.

I'd love to see him get some guys from the south as well....maybe TRob or Schuman?

Get some great recruiters and some X's and O's guys and lets get after it.

I preferred Sark because he was familiar. I watched him put the best offense on the field that I have ever seen. I did not prefer Lanning at all... too soon in his career to take that chance, IMO.

DeBoer might as well be coaching in Siberia as far as I am concerned. I have not watched them for a single play during his tenure at UW. But everything I am now learning about the guy tells me we got a great candidate.

Sark's history (as well as some of his behavior at sexat) made me wary of him - I've seen nor heard anything about DeBoer that gives me pause.

GREAT hire, imo.

Those worried about recruiting need to chill. He'll be fine.

Respectfully, let me point out something that may have been overlooked. Our new coach with a much, much less talented team just beat Sarkisian's team and for most of that game was beating them handily.

Personally, of the choices between DeBoer, Lanning, Sark and Norvell, I think we made the best decision. Lanning might be the better long term pick, but I think DeBoer will be much better in the short term and will develop his recruiting prowess.

I tip my cap to Byrne for handling this as well as he possibly could. The greatest coach in college history retired 48 hours ago, and we went out and got one the 5-8 best coaches in college right now. On top of that, he took the proactive measure to say don't believe the garbage you are hearing. Perfectly executed in my opinion.
