No one will ever replicate the coaching career of CNS however this hire has me excited to see what will transpire. He needs our support for his system just like we gave to CNS. He will succeed, our players who buy in will succeed and our foes will continue to fear us. GB honestly I thought you would bungle this one, but you have come through with shining colors.

I can't wait to see how he builds his staff. Hope Grubb comes with him. Also hope he keeps TRob and a couple from the current staff. Wouldn't mind seeing Rees stay on as QB coach or something like that. Also hope he can pull some folks like Isaiah Bond back into the fold. Looking forward to the future now.

I didn't think about that, but it also holds true for me. I'm not much of a scotch drinker. I prefer bourbon, but tonight I grilled some steaks so I am enjoying some extra red wine as that somber realization kicks in.
My take, it was reported that 3 agents representing coaches were in Tuscaloosa. Greg Byrne probably asked all three which of their clients might be interested in the job, Sexton probably knew Lanning and Sark weren’t interested, but put them on a list for Byrne so he could leak their names along with Norvell . I don’t think they were ever seriously considered, probably not even approached beyond Sexton, but it sure gave Sexton leverage for negotiating against those other schools.
I just had a Klondike bar in celebration....
I think that is very important. He doesn't need to try to be Coach Saban. He needs to do things his way and let the cards fall where they may.

I just had fresh steamed veggies(broccoli , Cauliflower, Carrots) and grilled Mahi and sea Scallops. After the holiday weight gain, that is a celebratory meal!
It was reported earlier that Grubb will follow DeBoer to Tuscaloosa, JeMarcus Shepard was the front runner to take over in Seattle. We will see

I figured the "I Believe" from our 1966 season was appropriate so brought this our from the cabinet to celebrate. The glass pre-dates me by a bit (from my grandfather), but I'm optimistic about our path forward. No one is Saban for sure, but right now it feels like we've set a positive course for the future.

The more I read about DeBoer, and the more I hear, I think we got a good one. I'm looking forward to some new blood and new strategies and fresh ideas.

Indeed. I am not expecting another Nick Saban. I refuse to hold any future HC to that standard.
