Bama was getting the Saban discount while at Bama, now Downs is seeking full market value, which I am sure he will get.

If you have ever been around some of these elite HS or college athletes, they are like mongrels always searching and restless for the ball and next opportunity. They see their teammates oftentimes as competition to a degree. They just dont form bonds the way most people do. Moving on is just part of the deal and if they make a few friends along the way they keep up with them through social media. And the coaches are the same way...

Meh, he will go to tOSU and they under Day and Bob coaching or lack thereof will do what every OSU team does, underachieve and lose to Michigan.

If, by wasted, you mean did not win a championship, I agree. But we were one play away from winning a championship 2 years in a row, so he has been no more a failure over that span than Saban.

Don't disagree in the sense that Day and Saban had the same outcomes. But I wasn't "crowing" about Alabama's superiority over OSU or Saban's over Day, which doesn't exist, just expressing my surprise and disappointment in Day's lack of performance, especially on the big stage.

I thought he was going to be great. He doesn't have Meyer's lapses but neither does he step up in big moments. His game-day coaching at crunch time seems to often fall flat. IMO, OSU has had the 1st or 2nd most talent every year he's been there and he has no NC. But things can always change and he appears to be driven, so he still has a chance. For your and OSU fans' sake I wish him well. (Maybe part of my "disappointment" is that I really dislike Mich/Harbaugh and UGA/Smart and he has "let me down" vs them. Though I don't care for OSU, Mich and UGA are far worse.)

FWIW, I don't know what motivated CD to transfer, but it wasn't a fear of PT or impressing CKD.

Dude was a day one starter for CNS. He would be next fall at Bama too (and anywhere he goes).

Caleb Downs is a day one starter for the SanFrancisco 49ers . ( best defense in the league)

Question for anyone, I heard on one of the shows that Downs is a freshman, he has 4 more years of eligibility. It is a moot point, I’m sure he will enter the draft after his Junior year. Surely the COVID rules don’t apply to someone that enrolled in 2023.
These guys on shows should have a basic understanding of college sports. I heard one guy make the comment about the Texas coach /UCF basketball game controversy That the BIG 12 made a rule about the Horns down sign, but it’s not enforceable in this case because UCF isn't in the Big 12 .

I understand you don’t like their program, or CD’s choice, but the Buckeyes had one of the best defenses in CFB in 2023 and have the second most DB’s in the NFL right now. Caleb got paid, no doubt, but he likes the coaching staff there so he did go for the coaching.

Most of these kids come from lower income areas and more than likely aren’t making these decisions on their own. There is a sense of if you make it, you bring everyone along with you. This is why the nfl players used to blow through money and wound up broke so quickly. Now multiply that by being 18-21 year olds and your getting the immaturity, friend influence, social media influence, as well as family pressure to take care of them because you have some become millionaires before ever taking a snap in college. They have no sense of money management and have never had money to worry about saving or future. This is why NIL should go through schools and be held until they graduate or head to the nfl draft. Schools should require players to go through money management classes and how to save, invest, etc.

People counting Bama out are making a big mistake. Deonte Lawson said it best, "roll with us or get rolled over". Bama has lost some players but not a lot of starters. Most of the players are backups and special teamers. Deboer is bringing good young coaches. Avoid the injury bug and they still have a very good team.

I think NIL contracts are coming and I have a feeling these donors are going to put in 3 year clauses that if they don’t stick around then they forfeit parts of it or have to pay buyouts to leave. It will be like coaches with buyout clauses and it’s sad but I think it’s going that direction.
