That guys voice in grating. I keep wanting to scream “shut up”

with that said, physical SEC defensive teams won’t give up their real estate as easily as Oregon. I think you need some mass to move mass, so there will have to be some adjustments to that scheme in the SEC, or you will have a MASH unit set up in Coleman

They had zero problem moving Texas' DL around for four quarters. Granted, it was only one game and they didn't have to play an 8-9 game schedule full of SEC sized DL. But in the game they did, they had zero problems.

Plus they had 30 days to scheme it too specifically for Texas. When that window shrinks to 7 days, it was harder for them to do it.

I think this is where CDK now having availability to better talent on top of Bama having the best coaching staff the players have had in 6 years (wrt development) will take care of those concerns.

Addendum: the guys voice is annoying and his mouth moves funny but fortunately one of my BIL's voice sounds just like that and his mouth moves similar, so I've had 16 years to get used to it.

I agree wholeheartedly. Additionally, even if you do not have a grating voice, if you are showing film, you do not need to have your mouth in constant motion. Tell the viewer something, then shut up, and show them what you just described, then wrap up the point.

Yes…I agree with you both, and I’ll add that some of the language he chooses to use occasionally is unnecessary, and probably even crosses the TideFans “banned-word“ list.

Just Saying 🤔

I agree. Oregon doesn't field beastly defenses like UGA, UT or even Arky.

It would be nice to see how UW fared against better talented defenses but I'm not sure they faced more than one or two since DeBoer took over there.

Oregon was 9th in scoring D only behind UGA from your list, less than 1 point worse.

They were 22nd in total D, again only behind UGA who was 9th, 27 yds per game worse. Not much. Just guessing but Oregon's D is probably better than UT's. It definitely is statistically; and they're definitely better than Ark.

Oregon has an SEC type defense built by Dan Lanning with many SEC level athletes. It's probably better suited to stopping DeBoer's O than UGA, Alabama (18th) or other SEC defenses because of being built, in part, to stop UW, and having experience playing them. Oregon lost 3 times in the last 2 years to UW - all high-stakes games. UW scored 37, 36, 34 and won all 3. Oregon gave up 70 pts to UW in their 2 meetings this year and 161 to their other 12 opponents. 35 ppg vs 13.4.

UW scored 56 vs med Boise St, 22 vs a good Oregon St team, 35 vs a good Utah D, 15 in an ugly win vs a bad ASU team, 59 vs Cal who held AU to 14 (a bad Cal team, more of a reflection of AU).

Mich shut them down, holding them to 13 pts and 300 yds, Bama had 20 and 270 in reg. Tbf, UW's starting RB (1200+ yds) had to play hobbled because they had nothing else. But Mich got pressure up the middle, causing disruption.

Regardless of the narration, the content is superb and the dude knows his football. To heck with the shows and commentary, I appreciate a guy that describes his points intelligently even without the polish.
Why spend so much time on plays that didn’t execute well?

Only dipped my toe in this, but one of the first things this guy says is that Bama offenses basically lined up and said, "we are gonna beat you cause we are better than you."

Compared to what he's describing with Deboer's system, it's about scheming to beat you.

Boys, we are going from vanilla concepts to rock - your -road deliciousness!!!

And yeah, guys better be hitting the play book early and often cause this seems like going from basic math to trig petty fast.

I may have misunderstood him at the beginning because if his voice and mouth moving funny. But apparently something come up and he had to quickly pre-record a segment that normally would be live. So there's a chance he didn't have time to go through the entire game and every play due to time constraints. But, he said his focus was on the scheme for a few concepts they run and not necessarily the outcome of the play. A play can be successful but the scheme during the play wasnt executed great, and vice versis. Penix made the wrong read in one of the examples but the point of the clip was to show that particular play and scheme had an answer for just about everything the defense could have shifted into pre snap.

The point of the video is to show the scheme and it's design along with the diversity of the play calling. Also was trying to show its aggressiveness at certain points of the game. I mean, I am no advocate or apologist for this dude just thought he did a good job describing part of the scheme that we may be running at Bama. Don't know about you but I am starving for this type of information about our new Coach.
