Have EVs Reached A Short-Term Peak?

I haven't had a chance to dig into the details to determine if it's bad or good (or dumb), but the timing is politically bad

Biden administration rolls out new tailpipe rules that will boost EVs and hybrids

i’m glad he’s taking this on as we have to take massive action on climate if we are going to mitigate climate change. this part seems like a good thing:

Nearly a year ago, the Environmental Protection Agency proposed a fast ramp-up into EVs — a rule that would have ensured two-thirds of all vehicles sold were electric by the end of this decade. The EPA pumped the brakes on that plan Wednesday.

Instead of pushing automakers to sell more EVs to meet stringent pollution targets, the administration is allowing plug-in hybrids — vehicles that combine gas engines and EV-like batteries — to play a much bigger role in the electric transition.

I saw one of these when I went to the grocery this morning. You can get a street kit (lights etc) for it. I’d probably put street tires on it. I like it because it’s a full size frame.

We were at a traffic light at one of the busiest 4 lane intersections in the city and a teenager was near us on an an electric scooter. It had lights/turn signals and sped along with the traffic until turning nearby. Not for me safety wise! See a lot more electric scooters and combo bikes when out walking. The one you feature is really interesting.

That is a specialized MTB ebike. With that gearing and the transmission in the bottom bracket, it looks like it would climb a tree. With no pedals, I'm not even sure you can call it an "ebike." Here's what I bought. It folds in the middle for transport...

Have you been able to get out on your new Lectric, Earle?

I just got my larger one equipped with mirror, bottle holder, comfort seat, and holder for my music player.

These fat tires are amazing in the soft sand.!

The beach itself is hard enough but coming down the ramps there's a stretch of softer stuff you have to traverse especially if we haven't had any rain in a while. With this bike...no problem!

This is what I got, but in white. BTW, you can buy a pedal kit for the Luna for $150...

The pedal problem was raised on social media this week by one driver who found that the car's accelerator could become stuck to the floor when a rubber cover came loose.

Yikes!

I have a few times, but weather and work are not cooperating. Tomorrow should be good for it, though...

Yikes!
I had that happen with an Explorer once. We were on the way to Colorado and stopped somewhere in Kansas. I went into a motel lobby to check us in and when I came out, the Explorer and my wife were gone - until it appeared, roaring around the corner of the building. The next circuit, I made a key-turning gesture to my distressed wife and that worked. A floor mat had slipped forward, depressing the accelerator pedal.

It happened to my mother in an old Chevy II. She pulled into a filling station and couldn't stop the car, so she started cutting donuts around the pumps, while the attendants (pre-DIY) cowered inside, waiting for the explosion. She also finally thought of the key...

I completely understand - especially given your "tax" work. Weather considerations here, as well....although looks like we're finally firmly into Spring now.

Saw this one on today's ride - I think it's the same model you bought, no?

We're seeing a whole bunch of them here - outnumbering the pedal versions on the beach, in fact...

Today finally got sunny, but it's 51F, with gusts above 20 mph - not biking weather for me. I have fenders and a back rack with saddle bags, but I'm not sure my use of the bike will make them helpful. That's not mine. I got the "Lite" model. They also make the XP model in 01,02, and 03. That's one of those...

OK thanks. Buddy of mine just around the corner and his g/f got Lectrics, but I think they got the XP version. Step though for her and standard for him. I haven't seen them yet, but told him she made a good purchase decision (she was the one who actually made the purchase).
