Alabama QBs in 2024, II

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

How many QBs show marked improvement in key areas during the season?

I have no idea, but my guess is that more often than not they don’t simply because it’s hard to work on fundamentals when you’re devoting nearly every moment to game prep each week.

Seems like significant improvement would have to come in the offseason…the old “The time to fix your roof is when the sun is shining, not when it’s pouring down rain” deal.
AJ, Sims, Coker just to name a few

This is one of those posts where I can’t pick just ONE reaction. I honestly think I could give every single reaction to this post…ALL OF THEM.

I might as well just say what I really think is going on.

Simpson is the Best QB on the team. Full stop.

The coaches know it and the WR's sure as hell know it.

But because of the external media hype and pressure and the internal team chemistry CKD is going to stick with the Incumbent to start Game 1.

But Ty is still going to get a lot of reps and while the game is still a competitive contest on the scoreboard.

At some point whether it's Game 1, 2, 3, and most importantly 4.... it's going to be clear to EVERYONE with eyes that Simpson is the Best QB.... except for a few here who will still deny it.

This will be the point that CKD makes the change so it ruffles the least amount of feathers.

Hopefully we don't have to wait until we lose a game but we might.

I'm just glad we have an expanded playoff field this year so 2 losses doesn't keep us out or anything.

I'm guessing we might lose 1 because of the QB stuff and then maybe 1 more just because of the schedule.

Maybe, but that would mean that Simpson took a quantum leap and Milroe stayed still.

That's not likely either.

That's straight up insulting to the kid.

Ty has been the better QB for a while now and it didn't take much for that to happen.

He has better footwork and mechanics and is more accurate w/ ball placement. He also can read the defense better and get the ball out faster and knows when to run or not.

Quite frankly the only thing where he is not better is the Deep Ball but that's not by so much that it outweighs all the other good areas.

“Insulting to the kid”

That’s hilarious .

What you’re suggesting is insulting to Nick Saban. We could say that based on a small sample set it appears TS could be the better QB, but saying he is with certainty is just silly. The most obvious facts simply do not support the case. Two completely different coaching staffs have chosen not to start him yet. Period.

Let me preemptively apologize to the mods because this could prove to be inflammatory, however that is not my intention. I’m just having fun here.

Is it August 31 yet??

All I can recall is Ty getting a lot of snaps in one game last season. I've never seen a QB with such nervous feet. He'd take one look, then tuck and run way too frequently for my taste.

I'm still thinking Mack should hurry up...!
Mack is far away from being ready. Ty looks like he'll be a good one for us whenever his time comes IMO

Watch his tape from high school. His OL was horrible, and he was running for his life. What does that have in common with the USF game?

DeBoer is starting his tenure bowing to internal and external pressure over the QB position?

If so, that doesn’t bode well for the future.

Perhaps.

Do you have examples?
Wow…

AJ was handcuffed for most of the year in 2011 and we finally unleashed him against LSU in the title game.

Sims did not throw a TD against a bad West Virginia team, and evolved into a playmaker by the Florida game.

Coker was pedestrian to say the least early in 2015. Then he started making some plays, including some tough runs. By the UGA game, he was in full command.

Man. The nostalgia just hit me hard. I can smell that cool fall air, watching the Thursday night games with my buddy after our evening lab, and flirting with the girls on the strip. 🥲

I'll let @tusks_n_raider answer for himself, but that's not how I understood his point.

His point is a bold take, but I think what he's attached to it is IF a change at QB is going to occur this season, it'll have to play out on the field.

IF it happens as people/fans/media witness TS is better the change will happen more smoothly within the dynamic of the team.

I *think* that's what he's suggesting if his prediction turns out to be true.

I will say this regarding the possibility of this happening.

IF it does, Jalen Milroe has a huge responsibility to learn from Jalen Hurts to accept a change was needed and to be a great, supporting teammate like Hurts was.

If I'm being honest, I have to say this concerns me. But at the same time, I think CKD will know how to handle it.

Insulting to Saban? He was as mentally checked out last year as he has ever been in his entire life, after the UCF debacle.
