Nah. I really don't care about the LANK part. I have my theory on that based on what I've read on the board in the past two years, and I'll keep that one to myself. I think it's a truth that people don't want to hear... and probably would get upset with me for saying it.You seem to want to hang this on anyone other than Milroe. You on the LANK take, too?![]()
The way it went down, getting hired in Feb, with one month left until Spring camp. not ideal. Their season ends Sunday. IF we want them, then we should see announcement next week. I just don't see them coming back to Alabama.Scott Huff o-line Coach Seattle
I dont know what they have against working at Bama............of course Rita didnt like BamaThe way it went down, getting hired in Feb, with one month left until Spring camp. not ideal. That 335 lb D lineman for tOSU yesterday that ate Oregon’s lunch is type we see from the better teams in this conference regularly. You can design/scheme around one guy who is smaller by pulling and trapping and having them be the '2' on combo blocks.
Brailsford did ok. he doesn't get beat and is assignment/technique sound. He won't get driven back often (a little bit, but no more than any others do). He does not move a guy out of a hole though.
I'm a little concerned about the style of OL play they brought in. I know it worked out west, but they don't face the type of DL we see in the SEC or now the Big10. Out west guys were either big, or fast and very few are/were both (see Oregon). On our schedule we will see lots of DL who are both pretty darn big, but also exceptionally quick, even the DTs. They are able to disrupt plays where we are pulling OL by using quickness to get into the mix much more so than guys out west typically did. I don't want to make a call based on this season because I think we were too deficient at QB for much of anything to work, so we'll see how things progress next season.
We need those.............That 335 lb D lineman for tOSU yesterday that ate Oregon’s lunch is type we see from the better teams in this conference regularly.
Yeah, no, sorry but if you want to be QB at Alabama you need to accept and own the level of scrutiny and resulting blame that comes along with it. That is what real leaders do. Not just stand in tunnels for handshakes or "Roll Tide" in interviews only after wins.Nah. I really don't care about the LANK part. I have my theory on that based on what I've read on the board in the past two years, and I'll keep that one to myself. But on the serious side, I'm not the type of person to pile all on one person. I have to analyze everything and look at the situation from all angles and form my opinion based on what I see. I just feel like there was lot going on behind the scene... not just with the players, but the coaches. Like I said Milroe deserves most of the blame, but we also need to start assign the blame to others beside Milroe and there are plenty to pass around.
They wanted to stay in Seattle. Thats it.I dont know what they have against working at Bama............of course Rita didnt like Bama
Yep. And we need offensive line types that can manage those type of defensive linemen when we face them. Kind of hard to run an Air Raid type offense if a 300 lb defensive tackle is draped on your QB’s back.We need those.............
When JM played the A&M game in '22, Saban acted surprised he struggled so much, and if I recall, even said something like, "Those issues weren't issues in practice."If it is true that Milroe was tipping plays with his feet then every damn offensive analyst should be canned. This is one of the very reasons you self scout. Something like this should be caught immediately. It is an easy tell, like a pitcher changing his hand/glove position going from fastball to breaking ball in baseball.
It is absolutely inexcusable if true.
It's easier to just sit and poutYeah, no, sorry but if you want to be QB at Alabama you need to accept and own the level of scrutiny and resulting blame that comes along with it. That is what real leaders do. Not just stand in tunnels for handshakes or "Roll Tide" in interviews only after wins.
The most important position on one of the most prestigious teams in the country is going to be a pressure cooker. When the person at that position has very glaring flaws and does not perform to the standard, they deserve the blame. No deflecting. Especially now that they are becoming millionaires in the process.
I will never understand this compulsion of some fans to absolve Milroe of responsibility...
Precisely.........and those types are out thereYep. And we need offensive line types that can manage those type of defensive linemen when we face them. Kind of hard to run an Air Raid type offense if a 300 lb defensive tackle is draped on your QB’s back.
It really is that simple. Saban tried to hire Grubb before (and Jimmy Lake before that). Guys just didn't wanna live in Tuscaloosa (although Jimmy Lake is DC for the Falcons now). They wanted to stay in Seattle. Thats it.
1. He wasn't doing the interview or any of that. He was praying in the tunnel and the camera came up to him. He does this every game.Yeah, no, sorry but if you want to be QB at Alabama you need to accept and own the level of scrutiny and resulting blame that comes along with it. Blake Sims and Jalen Milroe were both quarterbacks with very low ceilings as quarterbacks, had many doubters entering their first real season, and had a bitter quarterback competition where fans took extreme sides. Both had extreme highs and lows, both won a SEC title, and both nearly played for a national championship. But seriously ask yourself… why won’t you find one bad word uttered about Blake Sims right now compared to Milroe? Milroe brings ALOT of his harshest criticisms and dislike amongst the fan base due to his interviews, his antics on the field, his attitude on the sidelines, and etc.Nah. I really don't care about the LANK part. I have my theory on that based on what I've read on the board in the past two years, and I'll keep that one to myself. So let me play devil’s advocate with you. Not an attack. Just a question. We saw many times this year where players were “pulled” for constantly making a mistake. Some for a play or two. Others (like Formby against USF) out of the game completely. When JM played the A&M game in '22, Saban acted surprised he struggled so much, and if I recall, even said something like, "Those issues weren't issues in practice."
If he responded consistently to coaching--under two different staffs, mind you--his final game would not have looked much the same as his first game. I'm gonna go with "it didn't stick with JM" more than "we didn't self-scout"
I didn’t say either was. You asked the question if it was Charles Huff. I simply clarified it was Scott Huff. The way it went down, getting hired in Feb, with one month left until Spring camp. not ideal. Their season ends Sunday. How ASU let UT’s best receiver go uncovered on 4th and Golding is beyond me.Ewers must have made him some money with those throws late. Texas offense has looked iffy at times down the stretch but when the chips were down he made the throws.
Well, it's a good thing there are others out there..............I'd love to have them. If Arkansas coach gets fired, he is a good OL coachIt really is that simple. I love Sam Pittman. And he still relatively young at age 63. My only question, after hip replacement surgery and seeing him on the sidelines with a cane, is “how much is left in the tank?”Well, it's a good thing there are others out there..............I'd love to have them.
