Semantics but NIL is absolutely not a cash offer. Its a contract and paycheck and taxable income. None of these deals are upfront and almost anytime you hear a number is greatly exaggerated from reality or comes with major caveats.
And we are in that game as much as anyone right now.
It's great seeing no drop off in recruiting, Alabama will always sell itself, but, when you have a motivated HC like we obviously have you see the results!!!!..

The more I read about his recruitment the more it reminded me of a "shake down". The kid and those that represented him were simply in it for the money, nothing else. He may turn out to be the greatest OL in college football history. But I think our staff did the right thing to let him go and not get tied into paying millions for a HS kid who is more likely not to live up to his hype than actually live up to it. It's called risk aversion and not a bad business decision.
In reading some of the articles about Haywood's official signing, it appears that he has been downgraded by most of the services to a 4-star. I recognize that re-evaluations happen all the time, but this late in the game (right before NSD #2) seems odd. There's no way that this whole bidding war situation would have influenced that, right?
