Trump's Policies Part 2

The prices are about to get higher. We'll see if people vote for results, or party in 4 years. "Wait and see what happens", "Give him time", "You have to be patient. Results aren't instant". You'll hear those over and over until we're left with ashes on the ground and it'll still look like a pile of gold to the Tangerine Dictator's followers.

I said after the last election that we have a voting public that is myopic, with a short memory, and many times ignorant of history and basic facts. Bill Clinton convinced enough people that "it's the economy, stupid" when our economy had already had three positive quarters by election day 1992. You saw the same thing last November. And today, eggs are more expensive, prices are going up, and will go up even further with these stupid tariffs. And everyone's IRA/401K are falling every day.

B-b-b-b-ut, we just need to give him a CHANCE.

Two things the Trump Administration has done that I disapprove of (and were both an "own goal."):
1. Having anything to do with Andrew Tate. He could rot in a Romanian jail for all I care. Why get involved with this garbage person at all?
2. The release of the Epstein papers. These should be released, eventually. Protect the identities of the victims, do not damage any on-going prosecutions, and do not announce you are going to release anything until you are ready to release them.

Own goals. Dumb.

I have mentioned this before, but there is some discussion as to why vested interests do not want Epsteins doings made public.

Exceptions, no exceptions, this is different and he's different doesn't matter. The bottom line is the same worn-out lines are being used by the Trump supporters that the Biden supporters used when being attacked. My memory isn't as good as yours but it's not so bad that I can't remember just four years ago.

OK, let’s go further down this rabbit trail then.

So does Donald Trump bear any responsibility at all for the pandemic? For the lackluster response?

It didn’t happen until he was running for reelection. You would think 1 million dead people would disqualify a guy from the office, but apparently not in 21st-century America.

Incidentally, I reiterate, you did not even bother to dispute the FACT that Trump invited this level of promise onto himself. And that fact alone does make it different.

To say nothing of the fact that most presidents who come into office have not been president previously.

However, something tells me that when gas rises $.40 a gallon in New England this weekend as they are projecting because they all use the New Brunswick refinery….that won’t be Trump‘s fault either, even though it will only happen because of his tariffs.

Don't forget the 2.2 trillon he pumped into the economy via the CARES act that totally had nothing to do with inflation.

The CARES Act absolutely contributed to inflation. Trump could have (and should have) vetoed this legislation, but chose not to. Sure, it was veto-proof and would have been political suicide, but it’s minutely possible that it could have been trimmed back in committee instead of being rammed through anyway. It’s possible if not the least bit probable.

Meh, it was a pandemic and the country was shut down. And any Democrat complaining about it now, well, the vote was 419-6 in the House and 96-0 in the Senate.

If anything, that should have made Biden think twice about $1.9 trillion "Covid relief bill." But instead that became the typical political, "Well, since they got to spend trillions, so do I" that (sadly) marks our politics.

If Trump DOESN'T do this, it's, "that cold heartless billionaire wouldn't even help people in a pandemic!"

He does it - and it becomes, "Well, we inflation, and he CAUSED it!"

I didn't like it and so much of Covid money was mismanaged. That one - given it was early in the pandemic - I can quibble but it's kinda hard to go fully against it, too.

KERNEN: How much inflation pain are we gonna be willing to take if China hits us right back with tariffs?

LUTNICK: Inflation comes from govt printing more money

KERNEN: You don't think it comes from tariffs?

LUTNICK: No. Tariffs do not, do not, do not create inflation! This concept is just ppl whining and complaining

Agreed, it was a no-win situation and they had to do something. I just get the feeling almost no one even read this woeful legislation before voting on it.

You cannot literally force the shut down entire industries and not do something to fill the gap.

The entertainment industry (primarily talking movies and music here) were obliterated by the extended shutdowns, even now they've not recovered. I was able to survive but basically lost about 1.5 years worth of income due to the stupid shutdowns.

Should they have been more careful wrt criminals abusing the payouts? Without question. But while some folks flourished as they were able to continue working, and huge percentage of folks I know had their careers utterly destroyed by the ridiculous overreaction to covid19.

I agree. The fact that government was forced to look for resolutions to problems they created in the first place should have been a huge red flag.

What permanent problems are we trying to fix regarding Canada? Though I think the tariffs are the wrong solution, I can at least understand the issues with Mexico. Why the hardline toward Canada?
I think he’s using trade deficits as his primary justification, but also refers to border crossings and fentanyl distribution.
