Trump's Policies Part 4

While I think that’s the right thing to do, Trump’s actions are more likely about executive power than abortion rights. We’ll see if they eventually explore other avenues that would limit access to mifepristone.
What Trump did was pro-abortion, but not for the same reasons abortion advocate would say. Trump's Administration is just saying, "This is a state issue and the federal government should not be ion the business of banning the abortion pill."
Whether the states have the right to ban it is a separate question.

Maybe, but I think it’s more likely that Trump is asserting the power of federal agencies over state decisions. That will come in handy as he moves to fight lawsuits from California and other blue states.

As far as abortion goes, Trump might stay out of it, but the FDA could still regulate the drug or the Justice Department could try to apply the Comstock Act. Time will tell.

I’ll certainly defer to your knowledge in this area, but how do you think they should determine who gets cut? If they decide to cut only those who aren’t diehard Trump loyalists, would you be concerned?
That's my only concern--will the people who get cut be women, minorities, anti-Trump, or some combination thereof.

Apart from that, I've no problem thinning the herd, so to speak. Tidewater did a good job of explaining things.

While he's at it, he should bring back Windows Me. It makes about as much sense. 🙄

Good meeting today. As they say in the auction business......well bought and well sold!

The Department of Education has stopped $1 billion in funding for school mental health, the department confirmed to CNN Tuesday, affecting thousands of health workers, counselors, psychologists and students receiving mental help in school.

The terminated grants were part of the 2022 Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, a gun safety bill passed in the wake of the Uvalde school shooting that killed 19 students and 2 teachers. The measure allocated $1 billion in funding for a series of mental health programs.

Grantees began to be notified late last month that they would not see their funding continued.

The Department of Education says that they terminated the grants because the efforts they were funding were “not advancing administration priorities.”

So, student mental health isn't an administration priority. Good to know.

I didn't click the link but this circus version of politician is exactly what we need to get rid of. Republican, Democrat, or third party, if your motive is to be a click bait politician instead of actually leading and making our country better, we need to be smart enough as a society to not vote for them. Unfortunately our elected "leaders" are a carbon copy of our declining society in many cases.

Again, a President cannot legally undo an act of congress with executive orders. Our current congress is willfully letting Trump break the law and erode their power right in front of them.
To be fair, our entire education system needs to be re-examined and retooled. We have gotten away from preparing our future generations with tools and skills that will help them to be productive citizens and workers and have moved towards a model that looks good and feels good on paper but does very little in reality. It isn't the educators fault but the restrictions and systematic failures that we ask them to work in that has caused this. Students today are able to move through high school with 2nd and 3rd grade reading ability yet we turn a blind eye in the name of "No Child Left Behind". The reality is no one will get left behind if we all quit walking. Instead of teaching to the top we have dedicated our entire system to take care of the bottom.
