Yep, that's the nature of the beast these days. For myself, I deplore violence by any side. Violence breeds violence, which means we haven't seen the last political assassination, I'm afraid. Not everyone can afford the Popemobile (or the SS). I'm hoping finding him will shed some light on motivation and that will damp down some of the feelings. OTOH, it may actually have the opposite effect...

The thing is usually someone who is wanting to make a statement usually doesn’t do so much to hide his/her identity. I think much of what he is wearing and using is an effort to lead authorities on a goose chase. Personally I’m believing the idea that Kirk hacked off some far right group and they sent some tag along to take him out.

I think while some here act like the shot isn’t that much of a difficult one. I would agree if it was a torso shot but seeing where the round hit makes me think the shooter is either the luckiest shooter in the world or someone with some experience at firing at humans

I tend to agree. One fascinating puzzle piece is the gun itself. How many Mauser 30-06 bolt actions are on the black market, anyway? After WWII, many captured German Mausers were rechambered into 30-06, which was obtainable here. In fact, our Springfield 1903 was modeled on the Mauser and chambered for 30-06 and used as a sniper rifle during WWII. (The Garand M1 took over as the standard infantry-issued gun.) However, they are not marked as Mausers. Whatever, this was not a new gun. Maybe one taken in a burglary sometime?

I doubt seriously that it is a "modern" Mauser rifle, which would be easily traced. Also, the distance I heard was 150 yds, and even easier shot. And, he may have intended a head shot and got normal drop. I expect these details will come to light...

Yes I did - first thing I said was 'nah' in answer to your question. Of course we can discuss his life. I just wanted to point out that there will obviously be pushback against mischaracterization (from those that are familiar with him) or hinting that he was just 'reaping what he sowed'.

I'll make it as simple as I can. In this case, I believe two things:

1. What happened to Charlie Kirk it is absolutely terrible; there should be no place for political violence in this country.

2. Charlie Kirk has increased antipathy between conservatives and liberals.

That's it. Two separate concepts. There is no causation. No implied link between the two, no implied "well, he was just reaping the whirlwind."

If you cannot comprehend that, well, that's on you.

I was wrong. Mauser makes a modern sporter model which breaks down. They're pretty expensive and should be an easy trace, unless stolen. There's an old Rigby take down, built on the Mauser 98 action. Doubt that's it...

Wrong on both statements.

74% of voting age individuals are registered to vote in this country. 65% of register voters cast a ballot last year. Half of that 65% voted for Trump. Roughly 33% of voting age individuals voted for Trump in 2024. So, not really close to half and definitely not "over half".

There is no evidence that trans are becoming militant. Generalizing a group of people like that is just as disgusting as those celebrating Mr. Kirk's death.
