Trump Policies, Part the VIII

I know many on here will say that farmers are getting what they deserve, and maybe so, for so heavily supporting Trump. But what happens to them has an impact on all of us in the way of food accessibility and affordability. And that is getting absurd for my household. Im skipping lunch to help with our food budget.

Meanwhile, the Democrats cannot organize around a single theme, like this one, to win back voters. But is there clearer evidence that Trump will crush even his most stalwart constituency to achieve his power/grift aims? The depravity and ineptness, collectively, of our 2 political parties is destroying our country. We feel safe debating all of this here but until we start talking about it in the coffee shop it won't result in change, only get worse...

Yes... The willingness to destroy...

We have basically targeted electric cars and renewables in this country in an inane effort to force municipalities to build coal powered plants. We are ceding a global industry worth billions to China and the CCP to "pawn the libs" and play politics with the coal industry. Heck, there were bills (that failed) trying to penalize and force companies away from solar development in Texas, which has some sun to spare.

I see the same in my own field... You could certainly make a case that the NIH could focus somewhat more and watch the budget, but we have literally dismantled the premier medical research facility in the world and the downstream university system that has accomplished so much. The same applies across technology and develop as we hamstring what was the best science and tech force in the world. Meanwhile the Chinese are pouring billions into their efforts and will surpass us in many areas quite soon.

How anyone thinks this is a positive is beyond my ability to understand.

The Pentagon will drastically change its rules for journalists who cover the Department of Defense, two U.S. officials who are not authorized to speak publicly confirmed to NPR Friday. The move drew sharp criticism from news organizations, who said it violated the bedrock of a free press.

Going forward, journalists must sign a pledge not to gather any information, including unclassified reports, that hasn't been authorized for release.

We were in Cosco yesterday just to pick up a couple of food items. We never purchase meat of any type but prices on basic vegetables, nuts and fruit are increasing significantly on a monthly or weekly basis. After checking out we wonder how families manage to survive in this environment.

We had quite a long conversation on TideFans previously about whether consumers really recognize the impact of inflation. We don't purchase a house, a car or new TV often but when prices on basic food items continue to rise we feel it.

I understand that China's population is declining but they are starting from a much larger base than the US. Those who predict their ultimate demise appear to not recognize their leaps in solar and nuclear power generation, artificial intelligence, technology and the medical field. We will likely begin to see medical tourism to medical centers in China for advanced treatment of major illnessess in the future.

In the meantime we go backwards in medical research and alienate countries like South Korea who are attempting to bring technolgy and jobs to the US. Billions being invested here by Hyundai and Samsung and we pull a stunt like what happened in Georgia.

Trump has added a 100,000$ for H1B visas... The visas commonly used for techa and medical workers. Because we don't generate enough of them in the US...

Big tech will take the hit despite wooing him.

It will hopefully help salaries for those in the field, but companies may well fall short of their employment needs.

Trump: Biden was always a mean sob.. Not working out too well for him right now. So, when you start feeling sorry for him, remember he’s a bad guy

This guy is the biggest jerk and bully around. Trumpers love this kind of talk. Makes them feel very tough and important.
it really appeals to his base though, so, it's just political theater
