Bama (finally) Fires OL Coach Kapilovic

Imagine being micro-managed in your job by hundreds of thousands of people who have never done what you do…but who gather together on a public forum 24-hrs a day telling you how you should be doing it
I imagine if I were pulling down eight figures a year, anyone who wanted to could give me fashion and dental care advice for all I’d care. Worse case scenario, people would get sick of watching me floss and give me many more eight figures to stop.

That's not fair ... As much you've harped on Kap and CKD .. not fair at all. IJS.
Let me change the tenor of our interactions that we'll both like. Im now ABSOLUTELY PUMPED about next season now that this move was made. This move , IMO, was the most important move CKD could have made. I have a few connections with the Southern Miss football program and a couple of former players who played for Kap. They were not a fan and told me if a move wasn't made it wouldnt matter who we brought with regard to players we'd get the same results. This move WAS HUGE for the success of next season. Im pumped!

Pittman is retired and I'm told isn't really interested in getting back into things, at least not now.

The two names I've heard that I believe are the most involved are Vanderbilt's Chris Klenakis, who has ties to the Wommacks and also was Chris Ault's OC/OL coach during the time Ault invented the Pistol offense at Nevada, and Missouri's Brandon Jones.

There is also a bit of attention on Eric Mateos, who was recently hired at Wisconsin but has prior ties to the SEC when he was Arkansas' OL coach under Sam Pittman and also coached at LSU.

I'm a little less sure about Mateos than the other two, but hiring either Klenakis or Jones would be "home run" territory for me.
Yeah, Pittman is retired hunting and fishing on a mountain lake in Northern Arkansas. With a large bank account, and cooler full of beer. Maybe in a year or two he will return to coaching, but not right now. The Mizzou coach is interesting. Hearing a lot of noise from some Bama men!

But isn't that what they get paid the big bucks for and they should know that's part of the job.

I hate to see anyone forced but this one was definitely needed.
The salaries these guys are making at the P4 level keeps me from feeling an ounce of "bad" for them. If he lived outside his means and losing this job puts him in a financial bind then thats on him. These guys make exponentially more per year than the average citizen.

Yeah Kapilovic’s salary was $925K and produced the worst Running game since Ears Whitworth.

If any one of us made at least 50K a year in Salary it would take 20 Years to make that much money while not being fired for underperforming to an unfathomable degree.

Coaches almost always fail upwards too so no I don’t feel one iota of compassion for these guys.

I can't imagine he was surprised when it happened. But he'll get to tell his grandkids about the time he was a coach at Alabama.
I'm told he actually was surprised. From what Ive been told the first option was to re-assign his duties, but Kap balked at it. So, DeBoer cut him loose. At that point thats the only option CKD had, was to cut him loose.

If you have "one job" and you are making the type of $$$ these coaches are being paid, I ain't sad for ya! Take an early vacation and enjoy life. Something else will come along and until then find a nice soft spot on the beach! Thanks for your service!

Coaches have a sickness with Hubris.

I mean this guy objectively did an abysmal job.

So CKD tried to give him an avenue to save some face and remain on staff and he has a Brian Kelly type of response and gets himself fired.

Shocked, Not Shocked
