“They have a right to know what you’re spending money on, but you have to be really careful,” Golesh told On3. “If you’re going to spend money and then want to be involved in decision-making, then we’re good.'

we shall see how this will turn out for him down on the plains where boosters play a heavy role in their football program.

I don’t know if Golesh is telling the truth or trying to ingratiate himself into the barn cult.

My guess is a bit of both.

But even if Rane, the Lowders, et. al. are laying off for now, that’s kind of like first date best behavior.

After they lose a couple of games, I’m looking for Golesh to go radio silent on booster involvement.

These comments suggest CAG has a fundamental misunderstanding on how things work on the Plains. The boosters make all the decisions and he, as their employee, is expected to carry out their orders. And when this results in a disaster (as it often does, given the boosters do not really understand the game) he is expected to take the blame. Previous coaches figure this out sooner or later, and decide that the best response is to stop trying, go play golf, get fired, and collect a big buyout. The sooner he figures this out, the quicker he can move on to a better situation with a fat wallet to cushion the blow.

Here's the rest:

"But you have to be really careful. If you’re going to spend money and then want to be involved in decision-making, then we’re good. We don’t need your money. If you’re upfront and honest from the beginning, you’ve got a chance.

Original interview is paywalled at On3. I grabbed this part from a "political" site that's not always beloved on here

Did I understand his quote correctly and he said if they want to invest money and have a say-so in decision making, that was okay with him? Did I read that right?
That's how I read it & i hope that's the case, with the inmates running the prison in Lee County, is what's been The Barners problem & it's not going to be fixed..

Golesh’s phrasing definitely wasn’t as precise as it could have been….I did a double or triple take.

But based on the overall context of the discussion, I finally came away thinking he meant that if someone wanted control in exchange for PFP contributions, he didn’t want the money.

Like when someone declines an offer by saying, “I’m good.”

I just can’t believe he’d publicly say that control over recruitment, scholarship offers, PFP terms, playing time, offensive or defensive philosophy / playcalling is for sale.

But yeah, he could have phrased the idea a lot more clearly.

Of course , it could have been a Freudian slip.
