CONFIRMED Assists.: Steele, Thompson, Smart, Alles, Pendry, Davis, Middleton, (more)

Re: CONFIRMED Assistant Coaches: Steele, Thompson

I remember seeing a special on CSTV about how UCF likes to S&C their guys and how I thought we could use it at ALBAMA!!!!!!!!!

Did anyone catch this show???

I remember that there was some type of tug o war between 1 OL guy and 1 DL guy and whoever won didnt have to do sprints...
The whole team seemed really energized by this maybe Thompson can do the same.

It was really a boost to the team unity and is directly what Saban is talking about.

Re: CONFIRMED Assistant Coaches: Steele, Thompson

From what I have read, Coach Kines will be kept on staff as possibly Director of Football Operations.

Re: CONFIRMED Assistant Coaches: Steele, Thompson

JOX reported that Trickett was the OL. I was half paying attention, but they said Trickett, WVU, and new OL coach all at once.

Re: CONFIRMED: Kevin Steele Accepts DC position

Is this amazing news or pretty good "we filled an open position" news?

Considering he was named National Recruiter of the Year at FSU, he'll be doing more than taking up space.

And as others have mentioned, Coach Saban will be the de facto defensive coordinator ... being defensive coordinator on his staff is a bit like being offensive coordinator on Spurrier's staff. So we don't need a Bill Oliver skill set in that position.

Having said that, Steele is a highly respected coach in his own right ... some thought he might be successor to Bobby Bowden.

I'd say it's a dynamic hire ... and signals Saban's determination to win by dominating the recruiting trail.

Glad I qualified it with that I was half paying attention. Sorry for the misinformation and thanks for the correction.

I don't want to make anyone nervous but this is a bit of history. Bama hired the National Recruiter of the Year from FSU once before. He had the distinction of signing the #1 offensive and #1 defensive recruit not once but twice in the same year. Anyone care to guess this Coache's name?

Talk about raining on a parade with that bombshell. I thought Ronnie Cottrell was HC at Navy now? hehe

Yeah that was the first thing that popped into my head to. Let's just hope that Steele didn't earn his recruiting stature the same way. Although I think I'll be forever leery of FSU coaches due to that.

I see you're in one of your stir-the-pot, "I keep hearing Chan Gailey" moods. :biggrin2:

I will probably go to hell for some of my Chan Gailey posts.
