Re: Tyrone Prothro?

Last report was in an article that I posted about DJ and KB returning for their senior seasons. In the article it stated that Prothro was showing positive improvement and expects to be back. We will see though.

Re: Tyrone Prothro?

He looked like he could barely walk at the Iron Bowl. I just don't see him making the necessary progress to this point. I do sincerely hope that I'm wrong.

Re: Tyrone Prothro?

I'm no orthopedic surgeon, but I do know a little bit, and IMHO, there is absolutely no chance he ever plays again.

Re: Tyrone Prothro?

Has any athlete had an injury like that and come back to play their sport again? I don't know of any off the top of my head, but maybe somebody else does.

Re: Tyrone Prothro?

ESPN actually has them listed on their NFL draft page. Idiots.

Re: Tyrone Prothro?

I'll be rooting for a miracle comeback.

However it is an important thing for all the players to think about, no matter how far advanced we are medically every play can be a players last and they need to take advantage of the free education being paid for by their athletic skill and effort. Even if they do go to the NFL they will be vastly better prepared to handle and even grow the money they make there. The average NFL career is less than 3 years I think, it is a very slim minority that actually sticks long enough and makes enough money in the NFL to just sit back and drink fruity drinks with umbrella's in them.

Re: Tyrone Prothro?

you can certainly break ur leg and come back, you forget how long he was in the hospital and that they had to do a secondary operation to get rid of the staff infection as well so he hasn't been done with surgery as long as you would expect, and the fact that he can walk without a brace is great because that shows he can work into building strenght in his leg.

Re: Tyrone Prothro?

He'll be fortunate if he can ever walk normally again. He will never play football, you can bank on that.

Prothro will never play again. Sad but true. It's been a year and a half since he last played and we've forgotten just how great he was and how great he would have been. Had he been 100% this year I bet that Shula would never have been fired b/c Bama would have won 2-3 more games this year (MSU, Ark and either AU or UT).

I don't think any Alabama fan will ever forget how great Tyrone Prothro was. Even if he never steps into an Alabama uniform again.
Who knows whether he will play again, but believe me, he's going to do anything and everything in his power to be back out there.
