Re: Predict Tide to Pull out a Top 10 class.

BAMA Irish, did you say 2-7 is your birthday? Mine too. I guess our birthday wishes are the exact opposite, but Happy Birthday anyway.

Someone said they don't understand why JM would leave the homefolks sweating. I don't know if JM is going to LSU, but regardless, he is scheduled to announce his intentions on ESPNU Wednesday @ 10am. I guess if he committed early, it would take the drama out of that. I suppose that's why they didn't get Jimmy Clausen to do it.

Re: Predict Tide to Pull out a Top 10 class.

Does Sidell know Joe? Anyway, you're correct that USC is loaded, not only at RB, but at all positions, including DE, which is what Everson Griffen plays. As far as LSU being his first choice, maybe right now, but USC has always been his first choice until recently. I think the potential troubles at USC are the reason JM isn't going there. I know this sounds crazy, but I think Ole Miss actually has a decent chance at Joe. If you think about DMac at Arkansas, he is basically a one man show, and it sure worked for him this year. Joe could have a similar situation at Ole Miss. I just don't know why he would want to go to a place that will likely not see a bowl game in his tenure, much less a BCS game or championship of any kind. JM did not go to Bama as erroneously stated earlier today. Finebaum reported that according to his source, JM is at home in NOLA. I'm shocked that he didn't visit Bama as much as ya'll are, but for some reason, he didn't.
Here is an article on players talking to one another:

Now that he is committed to Alabama, Davis is busy working on other recruits to try and bring them with him to Tuscaloosa.

"I talk to Sidell (Sidell Corley) all the time. I actually talked to him Friday. He de-committed from Florida. I am hoping coach Saban is behind that. After our conversation this weekend, I think the possibility of us becoming bookends together at Alabama is very strong in my opinion. He (Corley) has a great feel for Alabama. He is a home-state guy. By me making the sacrifice to come to Alabama, I think Sidell will see what we can do together at Alabama."

"I talked to Ahmad (Ahmad Paige) to see if he is going to visit. He is still real iffy. He wants to visit USC and see the California life. Rolando (Melancon) is going for sure, Chad Jones said he going for sure. Stefoin Francois is coming, but I haven't talked to Joe (Joe McKnight). I think he is still coming also."

Just trying to see who is talking to who. ;)

Hard to believe I retired from the Navy almost 8 years ago.

BTW I hope you have a wonderful Birthday as well.

I have reason to believe that Bama is still VERY MUCH in the running for Joe McKnight. It is also not out of the question that he will be on campus tomorrow.

I just think a bit too much is made of who Luther can bring. Of all those mentioned above, who visited besides RM? I think Corley did, but I don't think that had anything to do with LD. I honestly don't know. Did CJ, AP, SF, and JM visit? I don't think they did, but I could be wrong.

On a side note, I will be 38 Wednesday, and my kids think that's old, so I guess it's just a matter of perspective. I am at the stage where I think my dad is YOUNGER than he thinks he is. He's nearly 70, and I can't fathom him not wanting to go fishing! But he's been complaining it's too cold to fish, and attributes it to his age. I try to tell him he's not that old, but he tells me I have no clue how old 70 feels like. I guess he's right, but I sure hate going without him.

I did a little quick research, and found out that indeed none of the highlighted players visited Bama, nor are they planning a last minute visit. I'm not flaming, just don't think LD has as much clout as he makes out to have with LA recruits.

Great stuff, Bama Irishman! I always enjoy your optimism in regards to all things Crimson! :BigA:

I read where you lived in Center Point and with us being about the same age I bet we know some of the same folks. I'll send you a PM soon so we can compare notes.

I really hope your source is correct, and that it went REALLY good, and CNS and staff pull off a shocker and land this young man. RTR

Yeah, that was me. Now that I think about it, the only reason he probably hasn't announced is because of that t.v. spot. I certainly don't envy the position he's in with regards to how much everyone is probably hassling him about his decision. I'm sure he and his family are probably getting a little tired of it all right about now. I wish the kid nothing but luck wherever he goes because he seems like a really nice guy on top of being a phenomenal football player!
