Weightroom Report

For a moment there, I thought you were talking about "decompressing" from my life of the '80s. Yes, it works well. I've gained back about an inch in height, so long as I do it daily. That inch is significant, in terms of taking pressure off my disks. To explain, my problem is all soft tissue and it's hereditary. The average person has around 5" of soft tissue in the spinal column. I've mentioned it to a couple of physical therapists and they approved of it, characterized it as "gentle traction." And, my massage therapist also has one. If you get one without the manual, you need to start out at not completely vertical; think like around 4:00 - 4:30. Also make sure you have it balanced (they're adjustable) so you can return to upright easily. Start with five minutes and you can work up to around ten minutes twice a day.

I'm sold. I've got to do something at some point. My problem is that my first vertebrae (the one closest to your butt) did fully form, so for 34 years the muscles around it were taking up the slack as far as support goes. When you're a teen, it's all good. But 20+ years of landscaping and construction, not to mention getting older, and those muscles have given this whole deal the middle finger. They're sick of making up the slack and they've gone on strike. They need to be stretched daily, but I don't do it.

I'm gonna get back to talking about kickin' you in the giggle-berries next time we're both in H'ville if you don't watch it. I was reaching for a good quote from "Heaven Help Us" or something, there, but I couldn't think of one.

Giggle-berries?!?!? :biggrin2:

Ahhh. Heaven Help Us. Good times. Good times.

If you haven't seen this movie, you've missed a classic. :p

an update would be great.

I will have to say that even if you dont enjoy there music if you ever get a chance to go to a concert they are putting on do it. Possibly one of the best live groups ever.

I do have a friend that didn't like the U2 also, but while backpacking in Ireland, he saw them from a hill overlooking the concert and now he's a big fan. I have heard a lot of good things about their concerts.

Man talk about hijacked threads....I feel like im gettin drunk at the VFW, and listening to war stories in between game plays...:biggrin2:

:BigA:

We're strict about some things, but we've never been about thread hijacking, except during the season. This is silly season, so, as long as folks are interested in the direction the thread is going - and keep posting - we won't complain...

We are still waiting .

Wasn't there supposed to be some sort of "progress report" about the players over this past weekend ?:conf3:

LCN, they gave out 4th Quarter awards 2/23/07. 10 players received awards some type of shirt and all were seniors other than JPW. Will see, if I can get some names. This week the players will max out on six lifts which will be recorded by S&C for the staff.

It'll be interesting to see how forthcoming CNS is going to be. Our cajun friends have been warning us not to expect much news...

Earle,

Went home over the weekend and made my first trek over the mountain to Hampton via 4 Mile Post. More accurately, I went over the mountain via Green Mountain. Checked out the old TVA trail and some others that are now blocked off, due in part to my high school buddies and me back in the early 90's. Took my girlfriend up there to show her what we used to do back in the day. Took her over to New Hope and Grant Mountain to the old beer store that used to let us fill up gallon milk jugs for like 5 dollars. Then circled back into Hampton Cove and over the mountain. Back to my point, I hadn't been to Hampton Cove in probably 5 or 7 years. HOLY CRAP!! I should have figured that the Hampton Cove development 20 years ago would have done that, but wow!

Oh, and my mom told me I'm not allowed to call it Owens Cross Road anymore. The new residents get really upset if you don't call it Hampton Cove. Whatever. We mudded, drank beer and drag raced in OXR, not Hampton Cove!

My Saturday AM bike route was starting from one side or the other of Governor's (I lived both on Garth and on the north side on Mountain Brook at various times), over the hill, down through Little Cove, either around the south end of Green Mountain or over, depending on which bike I took, and back north on Chaney Thompson. All I had to worry about were a couple of mangy farm dogs, and we knew each other. Now, it's wall to wall houses. I'll never forget the first time I took Liz along the Space Walk Trail on mountain bikes, about 22-23 years ago. I told her how level it was. I forgot about Blevins Gap, so I had to carry my bike and then her bike down through the Gap and back up. We pulled into friends' house down on the south end of Green Mountain for water, looking like we'd done a tour in SE Asia. Now, the Space Walk is the Ledges and even the north end of Green Mountain's developed. The fact that the whole Big/Little Cove wouldn't perc saved the whole area for later, top dollar development.

It's a few years off, but I understand that the Memphis-to-Atlanta is going to cut right over the far tip of Green Mountain at Ditto Landing. Sad. There are some caves right up the mountain from the Hville Motor Speedway that we used to horse around in.

It'll be interesting to see how forthcoming CNS is going to be. Our cajun friends have been warning us not to expect much news...

When Shula was HC, just about every other day you'd hear some assistant coach or some player being quoted or interviewed, and they were all over the news. Since CNS took over, we hear nothing - absolute silence. This is in line with his policy that he is the only one there that talks to the press. If we don't know what to expect, neither do our opponents, and that's OK by me.

You guys talking about Green Mtn brought back memories of an old water tower we used to climb, you would get up to the top where you could see for ever...bad part was there were no rails, lost alot of things on Green Mtn...

Earle,

I grew up in south Huntsville. My parents still live on Todd Mill Road where they have lived since 1965. Not many places I haven't been down through there. Went to Mountain Gap Elementary and Grissom High School.

Huntsville is a great place to live.
