This is sad on so many levels.

Q. How aware are you of the backlash that was created in Louisiana when you took the job, and has anything filtered back to you, anything you thought was funny or interesting from the people of Louisiana, anything that was said?

COACH SABAN: You know, I'm very aware of all the things that happened. One of our ladies, administrative assistants, who worked for us at LSU who went to a wedding in Baton Rouge got her tires slashed at the wedding. So I think we're very aware of the backlash; live it every day.

I agree. If any LSU fan or person from Louisiana did this, it is pitiful, pathetic, and utterly stupid. On behalf of the millions of decent LSU fans everywhere, I denounce this type of stupidity and cruel behavior as "sad on so many levels."

Before this turns into a thread where a bunch of people begin to indict the entire LSU fan base (not that the author intended that - I've just seen that happen before on other message boards), it is important to realize that it only takes one lunatic to slash a tire. I am sure that every fan base has their share of lunatics here and there. If I were there and knew about or saw someone doing this type of vandalism, I would try and stop him myself, as I would the ill treatment of any Alabama fan by an LSU fan. That's where were remember that this is just a game and we need to be decent to one another.

One question: How did someone in Louisiana know that they were slashing the tires of a lady who was an administrative assistant for Coach Saban? Do they have tags on their car, apart from the license plate? I live in Alabama right now and have been back to Louisiana in my vehicle since Saban became coach. My tires were not slashed. It seems there might be a bit more to this story.

LSU fans have gotten over this whole Saban thing , I've seen it posted time and time again this was most likely an imposter from Auburn it was just Tiger confusion.

"excepting, of course, our own LSU members."

All it takes is one idiot to make the rest of whatever group he/she belongs to look bad. Take the cute drunk chick planting a kiss on Saban when he arrived. Made us all look silly, thank God she was a looker. :)

I don't think the entire LSU fan base "has it in" for Saban/BAMA, and more of that will settle down when the stupid barners get to stomping on logos, then you LSU guys can do what you do so very well... go back to hating on Auburn like we hate Tennessee. :)

I agree with LSU63. It just seems a bit too coincidental (to me anyways) that an ex-employee of the Coach Saban got her tires slashed. I would like to know if she was the only person that got her tires slashed.

Are you just guessing it was one of them Backwood Alabama reporters asking or have you seen who it was?
I have no idea. They just showed Saban's face the entire time he was talking and I couldn't clearly hear what the exact question was. It was just humerous to see Coach Saban not give his deathly laser beams from his eyes when a "stupid question" is asked. Like RT 1941, I doubt that any of them will learn.

Not meant to paint the entire fan base. Just an example of one sad pathetic individual. We all have way too many of those types. Probably has a staff parking decal or some other such devise to identify. As to LSU, it is probably the only other SEC school that I will pull for.

ahh ok I thought maybe you found a place with transcripts that show who was asking questions, all the ones I come across just have a Q for question.

I wanted to know who it was when he replied did I say that ? no ... laser beams!!!

Thanks anyhow.

As said here, the majority of LSU fans have gotten over Saban leaving. It doesn't take but a small percentage to make it seem worse than it is. For example, if 5% of the roughly 120,000 that are on campus for a big game(that number from estimates of the people on campus for the 2003 LSU/Georgia game) act stupid, that's 6000 idiots. Of course, they get all the attention, not the 114,00 who handled themselves with some modicum of dignity.

And we don't have a monopoly on mouth breathers, EVERY SEC team has a few.

I, too, have an unfortunate high expectation that, while the Bama/Auburn game will still be the hyped "rivalry" game that it always has been, this year's BAMA/LSU game will bring a different level of attention and animosity out from, unfortunately, both sides of fans. One may be more active and the other reactive but I can already hear the rednecks out on both sides of the equation. I am even having flashbacks of what happened to the Tennessee bus as they arrived in Baton Rouge a year or two ago and, what is ironic, that incident happened by more than one individual and did not even involve animosity aimed at a coach who had left and then returned to a rival. Assuredly, Saban is well aware of the "spirit" filled supporters down there that will likely travel to Tuscaloosa this year and is well prepared for it as is campus security.

LSU doesn't have the only boorish fans, I could quote you a story that happened to my 59 year old dad at BDS, but I won't. I didn't let a group of 7 young punks color my impressions of Bama fans, where I have always been treated fantastic in the 2 trips I've made there. Don't let all the horror and some bull... stories color your impression of tiger fans. Most smack talk and offer food and beverage at the same time. There are bad apples everywhere.
