What an idiot! He's actually comparing what Petrino did to Nick Saban. Fortunately they interviewed Lou Hotlz who had this to say "with all due respect to Bob Greise, he's never been a football coach and doesn't understand what goes with that." What I don't understand is the comparison. Nick Saban coached two years in the NFL and didn't decide to leave until after the season was over (regardless of what the Miami faithful will say). How is that even close to leaving a note in your players lockers or worse, not even saying a word to them ala fRan? Also, why wasn't fRan vilified when he did what he did to us to go to A&M? It is a negative SEC Bias!

Bob Greise is a miserable mouthpiece for college football and ABC/ESPN needs to dump his jeolous Big X butt!

I don't agree that Petrino should have left the way he did because it reminds me of what fRan did to our players. However, the fact that he decided to leave after one year is irrelevant. If you don't like what you are doing or where you are living then you have two options; 1. live a miserable unhappy life where you are or 2. change your situation. Life is too short to live it in misery and therefore I applaud Petrino for deciding to leave. Again, I just don't like the fact that he at the very least didn't offer to coach the last 3 weeks of the season. It would have had no more affect than Saban's did on recruiting and Petrino is a good enough coach to have a positive impact on Arkansas football in a month of recruiting.

In any event, Bob Greise is a MORON!

Re: Bob Greise on College Football Live

He also said it would be awhile before Bama competed because 1.) we lost to La-Monroe, and 2.) we lose a ton of players including our QB

Re: Bob Greise on College Football Live

Alanbama27 It is a negative SEC Bias!

No it is and has always been a negative Alabama bias. The media simply does not like Alabama. If we had hired Paul Johnson last year the media would have crucified Alabama for being unpatriotic and paying a ransom price to a coach whose players were all overachieving, giving their all for the USA type players.

On the other hand had Nick Saban denied on more than one occasion he was taking the HC job at UNC after they fired John Bunting and then took it, you would have not heard a word from the media.

Re: Bob Greise on College Football Live

Grieseball is a moron and Miami won in spite of his average ( and that is being generous ) Qb skills:cool2:

I disagree! Had he done what most suggested and just said "no comment" they would have STILL found a reason to railroad him! You are correct about the negative ALABAMA bias! As I said, they didn't get mad at fRan for leaving Bama...the only negative was the WAY he did it...not that he left or even when he left or the fact that HE HAD A CONTRACT FOR 5 MORE YEARS! That is their big thing today...Petrino had a contract! Big deal! Congrats are made to be broken.

Re: Bob Greise on College Football Live

Greise's Big 10 bias isn't the problem in this situation...

It's his Miami Dolphins bias. All the Dolphins players of the past will quickly jump on Saban, yet they will be silent when the poor decisions by the idiot coach before him are discussed.

Yes, his Dolphins bias was totally clear when he was blabbing about Don Shula being a class act. I liked Shula in his NFL days, but since, listening to him, he is nothing short of a whining wind bag, whining like he gets no respect. He sees himself as a "Don", but in the Italian kind of way Don. "Don" Shula, the top dog, the know it all. His son got a job because of him in the NFL. He got his recent job in the NFL because of daddy. WHY, when everyone on Planet ESPN and in the NFL knew Son Shula was down in Jville, was available for all these big college openings, has Son Shula not been even mentioned for ANY of these jobs? Not even Southern Miss or Baylor, or lowly WA State. All hired someone else. Not the sure thing, Son Shula. Daddy had no power over Arkansas, Baylor or WA State, no pull, so he could not get him hired. Tha Don is a whining old man. Give it up Don, go back to your weight commercials.

Alan, I cannot imagine that you would disagree:eek: But you are right had he simply said no comment the media would still have attacked CNS, but IMO it still goes back to the fact that it was Alabama.

Re: Bob Greise on College Football Live

Seriously, why do we as fans have to put up with some of these apparently less than informed FB announcers and sports talk guys running their mouths spouting disinformation on a regular basis? Greise is no different from about 85 percent of the others in the print media and on TV that seem to get it wrong more than they get it right.

It is clear that most of the media has it out for CNS. There is no fair comparision of how CNS left Miami for Alabama and how CBP left Atlanta for Arkansas. I mean come on, a letter to the players with 3 games left in the season to go to immediately to Arkansas and yell Woo pig sooie! lol

Re: Bob Greise on College Football Live

ESPN knows that people will respond this way to Bob Greise. Thats why he still has a job. Don't watch, don't write in, don't call, pick up the remote and change the channel. Its the only way he'll go away.

Re: Bob Greise on College Football Live

Assuming this years Patriots go undefeated, wonder what the outcome would be if they could play the 72 Dolphins. I personally feel that the Pats would beat 'em....then they all could shut up. As far as I'm concerned go Pats, that way we can bury the dolphins in history where they belong.

Re: Bob Greise on College Football Live

Because of espn's clownish atmosphere for the last few years, I am reduced to tuning in during the season and turning the sound down, just to see the scores and some of the day's replays. Shouting shmucks (Rece excluded) is not my idea of sports reporting. The "Entertainment" (and I use the term loosly) part of the name is all that remains. How far they have fallen.

JEEZ, he's not the only one, I listen to sports radio all day at work, to the local and national talking heads, its one word.....Sabanandpetrino. the two situations were not even close. Petrino is slime.... he told the owner, arthur Blank point blank a few hours before monday night football that 'he has a coach'(Blank asked in case it came up during his Vick interview), and CNS tried to do what he thought was best for the Dolphins franchise, keeping the players from quiting on the season because the coach was leaving. hell, he even evaluated the Dolphins needs for the next year the day before he informed huizenga he my be leaving!, yet, he still gets blasted!

Re: Bob Greise on College Football Live

I haven't really watched much pro ball since they went on strike. That being said I have found myself pulling for the Patriots to go undefeated this year for a couple of reasons.

1. One more thing to chap Don Shula's old wrinkled butt.

2. Give Greasy Bob something else to whine about.

For me.......................it's really about #1.

Plus it would be waaaaayyyy cool for the dolphins to go 0 - 16. It is just BETTER to coach in the SEC than the pros.

I used to be a Dolphins fan, but after all this happened... there isn't a person outside of New England that wants to see the Patriots go undefeated more than I do. They are a model of an incredibly run organization.

Re: Bob Griese on College Football Live

From a poster, not of this board. His feelings about Bobby the Grease...I concur.

It never fails; let an NFL team get to 11-0 or 12-0 and out come the 1972 Dolphins players, being interviewed by every sports show and magazine on the planet. More often than not, though, they greatly misrepresent that team in a shameful way.

I just watched a segment on Sportscenter, an interview with Bob Griese and Mercury Morriss, in which Griese was hailed as the "architect of the Dolphins 17-0 season." Uh, hello? Has anyone at ESPN ever heard of Earl Morrall? After Griese went down with an ankle injury in game 5, Morrall started 11 of the 17 games in that perfect season. Griese came back to finish the AFC Championship Game and start in the Super Bowl, but I say that Earl Morrall was at least as responsible for the Dolphins' perfect season as Bob Griese was.
