If the SEC were to expand to 14 teams, which team would you like to see added in the East and the West?

If Southern Miss were in the SEC Miss St and Ole Miss would have to play them. I cant remember the last time either one of these played USM. At one time it appeared that the Miss legislature was going to get involved and make them all schedule each other yearly but nothing ever came of it. USM has proven it can compete with SEC schools. One of the most PAINFUL football games I have been to was when USM shutout Bama back in 2000.

of that list, south florida and la tech because of their large enrollment and location. another school from alabama or mississippi doesn't make sense, a florida or louisianna school does.

I'd add LA Tech and Tulane...just because it would hurt LSU in recruiting. More teams getting into the SEC from GA, MS, FL or AL would hurt Bama.

Move Vandy to the West
Add Ga. Tech and Clemson to the East.
There's a little disparity with this right now but Vandy may improve,
We'd want teams that would generate interest and money.

they weren't a choice on the list, but, in that scenario, just add tech to the west!

Well, if the SEC added two more teams I wouldn't want them to be former SEC teams (that eliminates one from the list), and I wouldn't really want it to be a traditional football power (strong enough as it is, but none of those teams really are).

I'd like USF, they are in a big city, have a large attendance which means they would be ripe to contribute in other sports and in terms of media exposure. I also like Louisville a lot, their football prowess might be a blip in the radar but they are another school that could contribute overall to the SEC and they are in a decent size city as well.

Strictly based on that list AND the schools that could be easily added, Louisiana Tech and Georgia Southern. They could make for two more in-state rivals, but they probably couldn't pull their own weight in the conference (but they would make the schedule a little easier).

Now if you just want to dream, I think Clemson and Georgia Tech are obvious additions. They would add in-state rivals, they have good traditions but that would involve bringing Tech back to the SEC (from a strong ACC) after having left and luring Clemson away from the ACC.

For my part I think the nice balance would be UCF and Louisville, they would provide rivals for existing schools, increase the realm of influence, make the SEC a bigger ratings force and contribute to the SEC without making it overbearing. Also the Big East seems ripe for the picking with only 8 schools and barely hanging on to a BCS slot.

Louisiana Tech?

Seriously?

I live in Ruston. I watched Tech every home game they had. Aside from playing over their heads to almost beat Hawaii in OT, they're not...well...good. They're a regional team, same as all the other LA teams that aren't LSU.

That being said, I grew up watching the Bulldogs, and I'll watch them whenever I can. I just don't think they belong in the SEC (or WAC, for that matter-I think they're due a spot in CUSA when one comes open).

That also being said, I'd opt for Ga. Tech and/or Southern Miss.

I would only hope to expand the sec conf if and only if 2 teams would leave or be deported. 12 teams are enough and its bad enough that you have a conf championship plus 12 regular season games not to mention being in the sec.

In order of my preference:

1st scenario: Houston (west) and North Carolina(east)

2nd: Texas (west) and North Carolina (east)

3rd: Houston (west) and NC State (east)

An interesting poll, this time around.. I'd say how about Clemson for the East and Southern Miss for the West? I don't know!

georgia Tech wasn't a choice and three sec schools from the smallest state in the conference doesn't make sense! arky and louisianna only have one school from each state, and la tech had the largest enrollment of the two listed in louisianna by far!, plus private schools have a hard time competing in football, thus, louisianna tech! applied the same logic for south florida
