If you can not take it no longer then you dont need to bother posting something like this. If you dont think he is coming, just say it without telling everyone else what to do or think. :) I have no clue where he is going and i am sure you do not either. The point of the thread is to dicuss the possibilities. Its fun, just relax and enjoy it!

I agree with you except for it being fun...I'm somewhat STRESSED OUT! Possibly the best player to ever come out of my hometown besides the Snake (he's got a lot of football before he can be mentioned above Kenny) might not be going to Bama? JULIO! STAY HOME BROTHER! FOR GOD'S SAKE STAY HOME!!!!!!:aiwebs_001:

Re: Julios comment after UnderArmor all star game

As far as the wouldn't want JPW throwing to them stuff... be serious. A interception doesn't count against a WR and neither does a incompletion. JPW puts up numbers and in doing so the guys he is throwing to put up numbers. Julio is not at risk of having paltry numbers because JPW may or may not struggle...

no offense but I don't think that's the issue here. The issue is that Julio said he wanted to go somewhere where there was a freshman or a sophomore...anyway you cut it JPW is not that

Well, I dont know much, but I would bet on the following two things: 1) we will send JJ a letter of intent to sign, and 2) if JJ chooses not to sign it CNS will have a fine player lined up to fill his spot. We will have a great class with or without him. Sure hope he comes to Bama tho.

Re: Julios comment after UnderArmor all star game

For those looking to stir crap up and pretend you know exactly what he meant, take this into account. His main thing was that he wanted to be able to grow with someone, he and Star are actually pretty good friends and we don't know whether he'll start or not next year, but the gist of it was that he wants to be where a good QB is able to grow with him. Bradford will graduate before Julio is a Senior, and could possibly even leave after his 3rd year. Tebow is gonna be a Junior. Point is it sounds more like he's talking about an incoming freshman, namely Star. And even if Star doesn't start next year, as someone said, JP is more than capable of getting him the ball same as he got DJ the ball. The question about JP is if he can avoid the untimely mistake. I don't think he's given up too much in this comment really. That description fits both OU and UA. I think we know about as much as we knew before

I like your take on the subject...I'm gonna read this post every time I start getting nervous about Julio going elsewhere from now to NSD

Re: Julios comment after UnderArmor all star game

"I am trying to go somewhere that already has somebody pretty good at quarterback," Jones said. "Someone that is a freshman or a sophomore who will be there with me."

what do you guys make of this? I hope he's referring to Star Jackson!
One thing I take away from this is that Julio isn't coming in with the intent to stay 4 years... but I guess that's not news.

Unfortunately his quote sounds eerily like he's regurgitating a point a coach may have made during recruiting.

Re: Julios comment after UnderArmor all star game

Come on, CH. That's one game. Julio is smarter than that--he won't base his decision on that.
True, but if I were a WR I wouldn't worry too much about the QB as long as the offense passed a significant amount of the time.

If a WR is looking for an NFL career, his college QB doesn't matter all that much as long as his physical tools are apparent. Reggie Ball was terrible but Calvin Johnson still went #2 in the draft.

Will this years recruiting class go bust if he decides to go elsewhere? I honestly don't know, but if he is the Tebow of this years recruiting then it may very well be the case. But Tebow, while winning the trophy named after and x-barn coach and being a backup on last season's NC team still found a way to lose 4 games this season.

I think or I should say hope we get him. But I also think whoever we get our coach and his assistants will give us the best shot we have had since coach Stallings to win a championship. An SEC championship in my mind is worth more than a Big 12 or any other championship except the BCS. And usually whoever wins the SEC, has a very good shot at the big one.

OU, while they have been good, has been upstaged by lesser oponnents in the bowls the past 2 years in my opinion. But I am sure the future looks bright for them just as it does for us. I like our chances much better for Julio than Tebow though. But we shall see.

Re: Julios comment after UnderArmor all star game

I can't wait til we get good so this isn't so stressful. In reality I feel like this recruiting class is most stressful because we are having to count on so many of these guys to start next year, so when the best guys we're after go somewhere else...well it sorta hurts. But once things get established, the only thing Im really gonna worry about is the QB & OL (which we usually don't have a problem recruiting) recruits first and foremost, everything else will fall into place, and players will be lined up to come here also.

There are 2 options:

He will come

or

He will not.

The sun will come up or if it doesn't this won't matter. It's all good.:biggrin2:

Re: Julios comment after UnderArmor all star game

I don't follow OU's recruiting but they got a pretty big WR commit today in Josh Jarboe. Sam Bradford will be a redshirt sophomore next year I believe which will mean he'll be eligible to leave after next season (if he so chose, probably not likely). I'm still not concerned at this point. I still believe Julio signs with the Tide on Feb. 6th.

CrimsonSurfer posted a link to a thread on OUInsiders a couple of weeks ago that brought up these exact talking points.

JJ's comments seem to the points brought up in this post.

Forewarning: anyone that is an Alabama fan that has a soft spot for the Sooners shouldn't read the rest of the thread.

Really? JPW, Sam Bradford...mmmm...yea, I guess you're right, there's no distinguishable difference between the two, after all, qb's are a dime a dozen, right? ;)

Unfortunately Star isn't "already a pretty good quarterback" at Bama and he's not even "already" at Bama. Maybe he misspoke but his description clearly describes a place that has an underclassman QB in place who is "already" pretty good, not an incoming QB who "could" be good.

I'm not saying I think he's OU bound. I think you can be convinced you need to go somewhere that "already" has a great underclassman QB one week then be reminded that that "great" QB may not be there 4 years the next week. Catch a kid on any given week and you get a different snapshot of how the recruiting process is unfolding. JJ probably needs to be reminded that going to a school for one player is not only putting all your eggs in one basket but it's missing the bigger picture.

Of course that's just me pretending to know what he meant, or as you said, stirring crap.

I think you have hit on whats all of our problem. We are so wanting to get back to championship form we are fretting every little thing that may or may not go our way. I also have to keep reminding myself who our coach is and that we will, should be a better team next season if for no other reason than the guys we have on the team now should be stronger and more disciplined as well as the great talent coming in the fall. This is going to be a long offseason for us fans, maybe as long as last season. We are hungry with anticipation no doubt. February 6th is gonna be big!

Tell that to Calvin Johnson - he did just fine with one of the worst QBs in recent history.

Quick, someone tell me who Roddy White's QB was. He went in the first round and is getting paid 1st round money. Irving Fryar was the overall #1 draft choice and he played with an option QB.

Check out the wide receivers that have gone in the first round over the years and you'll see that a lot of them played for pedestrian QBs.
