Richard Hendrix

Both can dunk but , so can everyone esle . Caffey had more range on his shot and still couldn't stick . :(

Caffey made ESPN's Top 10 a couple times. Hendrix can dunk because he's tall, Caffey had the jumping ability.

Caffey was a better athlete than Hendrix, and like you said couldn't stay in the league, so I too hope that Richard sticks around.

Hendrix is a better athlete and basketball player than LSU's Glen davis from last year, and Davis has fulfilled a decent role in the NBA for a rookie. I don't know whether Davis will continue to develop and get more than 13 mpg, but Hendrix is undoubtedly a better player than him. It is rediculous to say that Hendrix will not get drafted. He might fall to the second round, but someone will pick him up.

That said, the reason he needs to stay are based on the fact that he could stand to improve his stock by:

A) developing a more consistant mid-range game
B) Leading a team on a tournament run and getting more exposure

It is not because he does not have the tools to play in the NBA.

Ronald Steele and Richard Hendrix will be mutually beneficial to each other next year. Both will get each other higher on the NBA draft board than they could on their own next year.

The bottom line is, will he go 1st round or 2nd? 1st round will get him a 3 yr. contract and a chance to learn the NBA game more. If some team assures him that they'll take him 1st round, he'd be foolish not to go pro.

I actually think Hendrix can fill the same role that Nene does for the Nuggets. A big body down low that's going to get boards and could put up 20 on any night, but is comfortable being a 3rd or 4th option offensively.

Nene is probably ahead of Hendrix on the defensive side, but I think when Hendrix is in a situation where he will be fighting for his spot he will dedicate himself to defense.

That's the thing, as much as I like RH, he's isn't good enough to warrant such promise. RH is a stretch to be picked in the 2nd rd, mush less be promised to be taken in the 1st rd.

Most mocks have him going late first round... but I agree he's probably a 2nd round pick before draft camps and such.

He is not a stretch to get picked in the 2nd round, give me a break.

I'll say this. I'm a Hendrix fan, and a big one. But he's not NBA ready.
He needs vast improvement in ball handling skills, movement without the ball, free throw accuracy, and on his jumper.
He's not a big player by NBA standards. As a matter of fact he's smallish for a power forward.
A forward in the NBA has to be able to bounce outside and nail the 12-20 foot jump shot.
Richard doesn't have that ability as of yet.
And don't forget, a player who is having even slight knee problems isn't exactly what the pros are looking for.
I personally think he needs to improve over the next year, come back for a great senior season, and make himself a possible first rounder.
Look at Kennedy Winston and Rod Grizzard. They both had NBA talent, but they lacked just a couple of little teeny intangibles that kept them out of the first two rounds, and it cost them dearly.
I don't want to see that happen to Richard because he's an outstanding student and person.
However, if he chooses to go I wish him all the luck in the world.

no way hendrix leaves.. he seems like a very smart guy and staying 1 more year could make a huge difference. He has to develop something else to become a mainstay on an NBA team.. he does not have the great leaping ability of McDyess or Wallace. He doesnt have the length of McDyess or even Roy Rogers who played a little in the lg...He is not very good at the FT line and he gets their quite a bit. I wish him well but right now would be a horrible move for him. you'd think ppl would learn from all ther others that thought they were ready.

Then I have to question the legitimacy of those mocks. I love RH, and he's a very good college player, but he isn't a 1st rd pick, even late 1st rd. He is not THAT good to warrant a guarantee 3 yr deal.

Yea, like neither felt playing defense was part of the game of basketball.
