Good. I don't have to pull for the Seahawks anymore.
Don't let Shaun Alexander fade without fanfare....
Shaun Alexander, the most productive running back in franchise history, probably has scored his last touchdown as a Seattle Seahawk.
After a Pro Bowl career, after eight seasons in Seattle, after averaging more than 1,500 yards rushing over a five-year span, Alexander probably will be released.
It is now official. The Seahawks have cut Shaun Alexander, and filed the appropriate paperwork with the league.
Shaun Alexander's career with the Seattle Seahawks is now over.
Because he got stuck in Seattle, the media machine (primarily in the east) almost ignored Sean. If he had been playing for any decent team east of the Mississippi river, Sean would have been more of a household name.
I always had respect for the man because he stood up for decency and set a great example for young people.
His years at Alabama were as good as it gets. He literally carried the team for a couple of those Dubose years.
Good. I don't have to pull for the Seahawks anymore.
Good. I don't have to pull for the Seahawks anymore.
That is exactly what I was thinking.
Good. I don't have to pull for the Seahawks anymore.
In all fairness, I know many people who absolutely refused to drink Jack Daniels on gamedays because of its Tennessee heritage. And that long predates all of the recent NCAA / Fulmer / Means drama. I knew a lot of people that would drink Jim Beam or Crown Royal on gamedays for that very reason.
With a 'Bama grad now master distiller in Lynchburg, I imagine that will change, but nevertheless it was an issue for along period of time.
The Seattle Seahawks released former UA player Shaun Alexander, just 26 months after he signed a $62 million contract as the franchise's cornerstone.
Seahawks president Tim Ruskell said Tuesday the team released the former Alabama star unconditionally hours after the running back passed a physical. It's been a rapid fall for the 30-year-old. When he signed that mammoth deal, he was coming off an MVP season in 2005 and a Super Bowl appearance. Now he's looking for work, coming off of two unimpressive and injury-filled seasons.
I agree...I just could not get into the Seahawks...For several reasons...
#5 The NFL doesn't care about them as a franchise...Do you think the NFL would tell San Fran, Dallas or Green Bay..."Ummm, we are going to move you to AFC"???...As, they moved the Seahawks to the NFC...
LOL, getting off my tirade now....
The NFL told the Pittsburgh Steelers that very thing when the AFL/NFL merger happened. The Steelers were a stalwart NFL franchise that was proposed to go into the new AFC. They went kicking and screaming until they found out they'd be in a division with Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Houston - thus producing some pretty good rivalries.
I'm sure the reason you mention was certainly a contributing factor to my not having seen him play in the NFL; however, there are other reasons.
First, I am not an NFL fan and rarely watch an NFL game before December in any given season. Second, as I alluded in my previous post, unlike most Bama fans, I am not enamored with Shaun Alexander. As I said, he is extremely gifted and I'm glad he played for--not against--Bama. However, I am not a fan. Due to board rules and what "Momma always said," I won't say anything further on here.
