What shocks me is some of the utter trash taken in the 7th round, like kickers and backup lineman from Auburn (king dunlap??) for instance, ahead of DJ Hall and Gilberry, does on field talent not count for anything with these idiots? They think they are so smart but their track record of first round busts and free agent all pro's should clue them in.
As for Gilberry and Titus Ryan, how many of those SEC tackles drafted did they beat for a sack??? If they can beat them I think they can play in the league. I hope they get a shot in free agency.
Correct if im wrong but didnt Titus Brown single handedly demolish our offense?
Three more guys to add to that group that I forgot... all LSU guys...
Jonathon Zenon (LSU CB)
Luke Sanders (LSU LB)
Carnell Stewart (LSU RT)
Again, as I said before, that would be on hell of a team. You could make an All-SEC Dream Team out of guys who didn't even get drafted.
If Highsmith wasn't going to be drafted, Luke Sanders certainly wasn't going to be drafted.
Zenon has some talent but he plays almost out of control. He peeks in at routes and takes waaaaaay more chances than most CBs do or should. He does get his INTs but he puts himself in a position to get burned a lot, even by college standards. He will need a quick and major education in a NFL camp about what not to do, because even above-average pro QBs and WRs will eat him up if he doesn't.
We sit in shock and dismay as our BEST receiver in school history doesn't get drafted yet wr's from other schools that statistically weren't the best in their school's history get drafted. We've got players on our team right now that physically and mentally are better than Hall and will get drafted. Nothing against Hall because he is and always will be apart of the Bama family. But let's be honest. If that's the "best in Alabama history" then maybe we've been lacking from a quality standpoint for years. I don't think we'll be lacking for much longer considering the 2007 & 2008 recruiting class.
Ali Highsmith was a bit on the small side linebacker anyway, and then showed up at the Combine and ran the forty at approximately 5.0 seconds, i.e. slower than a lot of offensive linemen and the slowest of any linebacker at the combine. There were a lot of rumblings that he was hurt, which is almost certainly true, but still it was an absolutely idiotic thing for him to run in that case. Plenty of guys every year don't run, he should have been one of them. Smaller linebackers -- particularly one that needs to get a lot stronger too -- have to show a lot of speed, and Highsmith didn't do that.
Woodyard was a small linebacker too, and not overly disciplined. He was always flying around, but never really a method for the madness. In the running game, he was often swallowed up at the point of attack. Most people expected him to be drafted, but I could see why teams passed him up. You'll never find many 210 pound linebackers in the NFL, and that hurt him bad.
As for Mayo... I hate the Vols, but he is a great prospect. He's got pretty good size -- 6'2 and 230 -- and really has very good mobility for his size. He went to Indy for the Combine and ran a 4.50, which was highly impressive. Beyond that, he's a smart kid who understands the game well -- always a major plus for a Belichick defender -- and he has the versatility to play both inside and outside. Beyond that, he was about the only good defender the Vols had last year, and led the league with 140 tackles. He's a dang good player, and had the Pats not selected him, another team in the mid-first round would have.
Stewart was a big guy and a senior, but he only started one year and was the weak link in the OL last year. But he had been a DT and moved to escape the logjam there. He signed with New York and they may look at him on either side of the ball. Longshot to stick.Three more guys to add to that group that I forgot... all LSU guys...

I understand you are referring to the records DJ Hall owns, but there is NO WAY anyone would argue he is the "BEST reciever in school history." I believe a gentleman by the name of Don Hutson would probably be my selection for that title. There is more to being the BEST than having a couple of school records. Would you say JPW is the BEST QB to ever play for Alabama?

New Orleans will give Sanders a free-agent shot, but he'll have a tough time making the final cut.
Zenon has many of the tools to play in the NFL if he can find the right situation. He signed with Cleveland, which might be a good spot for him.
Very good analysis. You are obviously a student of the game. Oftentimes we let our emotions overrule our brains in analyzing both teams and players, especially our own.
When you are in the stands or the local pub, follow your heart.
When you are in the casino, follow your head.
why is Gilberry such a shocker? A slow, undersized DE and no one can figure out why he didn't get drafted? Sure, he's got heart and tons of it, but heart doesn't make up for the deficiencies that the pro scouts see.
