Anybody have some good recomendations of a few really good restaurants for friday nite?? I would like it to be somewhere nice, because i am finally going to ask my girl to marry me. Any help would be appreciated. We live in charleston and will be coming down for the weekend, p.s. I am alumni of bama who now lives in sc- we gotta win this one!!!

The City Grill would be an excellent choice. Not ony does it have great food but also a beautiful view of the city. It is pricey but worth it.
I used to live in ATL. These places are really good.

As for more common places that are easier on the pocket books, you can't go wrong with any of the Three Dollar cafe locations. They're awesome for food and draft.

i would have to second this. the city grill is a very classy establishment and IMO would be a great place for a proposal

The Waterside Restaurant at the Evergreen Resort in Stone Mountain has an awesome seafood buffett on weekends and is worth the price ($30 i believe). The service was excellant.
Fogo de Chao is UNREAL good. There isn't a better place anywhere I know to get good red meat. The only problem, though, is it's more of a "man land" type place, if you know what I'm saying. I mean, women eat there, of course, but it's not extremely romantic. It's bloody red meat going around on skewers, which I like!
Emeril's shut down in May, so that's a no go. And I'd rather eat a steak from the Golden Corral than Morton's. Long story, but their steak just isn't up to par with other steak joints.
Bone's in Buckhead is really good. Stoney River in Roswell is really good as well.
Honestly, there are tons of good eatery's in the ATL. You'll find plenty of good ones in Buckhead and Midtown. Shoot, go downtown and eat at Ruth's Chris. Can never go wrong there.

Every tourist to Atlanta should visit Aunt Pittypat's Porch. It's like dining in a Gone With The Wind setting and it is a shameless tourist trap but the food is decent, ambiance is excellent and the prices a little too high but go just to say you have been there. You get cornbread served in a cast iron skillet, there is syrup on the table, all the dishes are southern style (well sort of) and the few times I have eat there it was pretty good. The pecan crusted fried catfish are pretty good for an appetizer and I recommend the venison stew which is also served in a cast iron pot with cornbread crust like a pot pie. They have a drink there called a "Leg breaker" that is quite interesting and I think the limit is 2 per customer.
Be aware this isn't grandma's kitchen cooking but I recommend the place as a novelty and a decent meal. Bring plenty of money.

its a sad day when the meat and three turns into a sucker's bet
there is a lot of "new southern" (or whatever they call it now) cuisine around atlanta where you end up paying $25-$30 for fried chicken and grits. granted the fried chicken and grits each have an extra five adjectives, but its still chicken and grits.
yankees will waste their money on anything, especially if you tell them the grits are fresh picked off of the grits bush out back

The food there is awesome (not cheap but worth it). It's considered modern American. Food critic's rate it as one of the top restaurants in ATL, and I'd have too agree. I'm not sure if you can get reservations on short notice. The time's I've been, I've called a month in advance.

I drove by there last week and the sign was gone. I'm pretty sure it is closed.
