Link: Franklin FIRED as Auburn OC

Does anybody think that Rush Probst might be a candidate for the position? He runs a very similar system to Franklin's from what I've heard. He also is probably as good or better at recruiting than Franklin. I think they need to get someone with college experience.. isn't there a car salesman somewhere that used to coach?
 
Awbun's offense was at the bottom in most offensive categories in the SEC and the country. The barnyard ranks 104th in total Offense. Ranks 105th in pass efficiency and tied at 111th in the Red Zone Offense and 112th in third down conversions. Source the Opelika-Awbun News.

Tubs did not do his homework before hiring Franklin. He should have consulted Paul Johnson who is running the Spread Option before hiring Franklin. GT is tearing it up. Even Coach Bryant was intelligent enough to ask Darryl Royal and Emery Ballard of Texas to show him how to run the wishbone. In 1971 Alabama was playing NR #1 USC and beat them 17 - 10. Everyone knows what happen the year before.

So before you buy you should know what the heck you are getting. The Dirtybird Spread is dead at Awbun. :BigA:

Just one week ago Tubs was telling everyone how the offense was on the edge of a break through. Yep he sure did. Protected Franklin like a son and then kick him to the curb like a bad date on Saturday night.:biggrin:
 
Before the season I heard Franklin on Finebaum and he said he would'nt want to work for someone who would'nt let him talk to the press, so maybe he quit.:BigA:

I really feel for the guy. He was sold a bill of goods last December, and neither Tubs nor his BBQ Boys delivered.

Imagine yourself with what you think is a great idea. You finally (think) you have an opportunity to show your stuff on the big stage, and the anus you work for shows himself for the liar and classless, self-serving jerk he really is. To make matters worse, the cronies who shook your hand and slapped your back suddenly slap your face and stab your back.

I've been in that situation before. It totally sucks.

Here's to hoping that someone like Vandy or Southern Miss picks him up, and he has the opportunity to deliver a barbed wire enema to the people who lied to and betrayed him.

Different spreads. CPJ runs a triple option that is run first. CTF runs a random option spread that is usually pass first. It's a different offense.

Still, I think CTT knew exactly what he was doing last December. Some folks saw right through the deception he was wreaking. Some didn't.

If you've watched Tuberville-coached teams over the last decade or two, you knew that there was no way in hell that Franklin was going to be given free rein. The man was lied to. He was sold a bill of goods. Sucks to be him, but he'll land on his feet.

If he has the talent and the free rein he needs, he'll do some damage somewhere.

The BBQ boys refers to a group of assistant coaches that has been with CTT since day one of his Ole Miss tenure. He is fiercely loyal to them, and has fired only two of about seven since he started at AU.

They get the nickname from the fact that all CTT assistants participate in a BBQ cookoff during the off-season. Greg Knox, Hugh Nall, Eddie Gran and one other whose name escapes me have been there forever. Coordinators come and go, but the BBQ Boys are always back.

When you look at Ear$' history of doing this every year or every other year, the remaining constant is Ear$ and his Ole Miss gang...the more I read and hear, the less convinced I am that Franklin is the one at fault here. Ear$ is going to once again sell the barners his spin and get them all giddy over their next hire.

Also, am I the only one who thinks the spread is no longer new and is actually starting to hit a downturn of sorts? I mean how many teams actually run a "true spread" offense? I know there are a few teams than run some spread plays within their systems, but I mean totally committed spread offenses similar to Franklins?
SMU, Mizzou, TTech are the three that come to mind. FL, GT & WVU runs an option style offense focused more on running than passing so its not even similar to me.
 
Guys it is obvious that the barn is scared. This is truly a move to try and get some thunder back on their side. If Alabama was 3-3 and not 6-0 I would bet anything Franklin would not be cleaning out his office today. They have finally begun to realize that they are lil' SISTER and once we really get all the wheels turning they will just be an after thought for every recruit in the state of Alabama!

This is just a rumor, you understand, but a waitress at Waffle House told me she saw some girly looking guy sharing a Little Debbie with Tub Ears and he was drawing up some smoke draw plays. She said Tub Ears was smiling and nodding his head.

I think Tubs did this so he has the excuse of "Well, we only had seven weeks to get this offense together." when we kick that arse in November. Gotta love it!
