Official Post Game Thread - Everything Here, Please...

Bama's offense may be a little too easy to prepare for when a team has 3 to 4 weeks with focus on Bama only. Bama's weaknesses had been exposed a couple of times this year.

You hit the nail on the head. This is especially true when you're All-World LT isn't on the field.

A smashmouth offense is MUCH easier to prepare for than those of the spread/run-&-shoot/wildcat variety. The trick is stopping the "smash". A smashmouth offense is only as good as it's offensive line. This was proven tonight. Can't fault JPW for this one. He had no protection all night long.

Anyone besides me shocked that the Utes are such classless thugs?
They haven't had the pleasure of Southern Hospitality training. I thought our guys handled the pressure well, if they acted unsportsmanlike, it was out of frustration. I would love to hear how their fans handle themselves tonite.:rolleye2:

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is congrats to the Utes, I was so PO'd the way they were running their mouths all week, but as the old saying goes, "To be the man, you got to beat the man", and they just flat out whipped us in all aspects of the game.

I was optimistic in the 2nd half, but when it came to crunch time, they manned up and put it on us.

I just hate these long layoffs, I felt that we would come out playing tough, but we came out flat for some reason, I don't know what happened.

I would like to thank and congratulate the coaches and the players for what they were able to accomplish this year, 12-2 is a great year, but we were 2 short of our goal. I would also like to thank the Seniors for all of their leadership this year, if not for you, I am sure we would have stumbled along the way. Good luck to all of you and I hope you all succeed in all aspects of your life.

Another thing, if Coach Steele is the next DC at Clemson, thanks for all that you brought to the table and I wish you and your family the best of luck.

And lastly, Andre, I have felt sorry for you all week, for not getting to play in this game, do not let this loss haunt you. I am not sure what happened, but I thank you for all you have done for us in the 3 years you were here. I hope you get all the money you can, and whatever happened, I hope the Attorney General goes after the agent and he gets jail time for getting you into trouble.

Ok bama fans, we came up short the last 2 games, but we have had a great season, we are definitely on the way back, we came up a little short, the cupboard is still a little bare, that was evident tonight, now on to the next phase, recruiting...........

To all the recruits reading these sites, if you believe in the plan in place, let it be know we need to do a little more shoring up in certain positions.

Thanks again, players and coaches, I am so proud of you, keep your heads up, no shame in losing to an undefeated team, you have made us all proud.

Bama Greg

The Utes had a great game plan and executed it perfectly. Our defense is obviously designed to stop the run and we were even unable to stop that big fella out of the "wildcat" formation. They were the better team tonight no matter what kind of excuses we all want to make.

One thing is for sure, these two loses will give the team much fuel to get better during the offseason.

I don't think Coach Saban had any quit in him did ya'll see him ripping Arenas on that third down conversion. Boy he was hot, wonder what he says to them after the game.
Too late to do anything but teach. I don't think there would have been too much yelling tonight.

Hopefully next year's team will learn from this season's post season losses as this year's team learned from last year's late season collapse.

We have not completed the process. We have not arrived. We still have to learn to finish...

I'm not buying into that. Teams function without key players all the time. Forget the cirucmstances, Andre could have played ANY WHERE but chose Alabama. I wish him nothing but the best and will hold him in high regards.

As angry as we are, we cannot forget this team was only supposed to be 7-5 or 8-4. They exceeded everybody's expectations. I know they exceeded mine. We dodged the injury bug for most of season and caught a lot of breaks. Take Andre's situation, coupled with the other OTF situations, and this really shouldn't be too surprising. I personally think the team had the air let our of their tires after losing to UF. That and a no-win game against Utah.

Oh well, we only get better from here. Here's to many more BCS games!

RTR

That's right. But I think everyone expected the SEC to be a bit stronger, too. We've just got a longer way to go than I had hoped and I guess I got caught up in the record. I thought we would whip Florida like a little girl, and I really expected us to beat the pants off of this team. I refused to accept how well Utah had played this year and and I didn't look at our weaknesses.

BTW--just in case this was mistunderstood:

NO. I just think we're that bad.

Any contraction that ends in 're is dual purpose. It can mean [pronoun] ARE or [pronoun] WERE. In this instance, I meant "We were that bad."

And we tonight were. The stats from the game prove it. We weren't all season, but I've already stated what I believe about our team for the season. Nothing can take away from their record.

Bama Greg

We should hang, Bama Greg, because I fully agree with all you just wrote. RTR!

ESPN news is holding Sabans press conference right now, well I have it tivo'd. Man he is a true coach sounds like Bear of old, taking full responsibility for the loss. Man we do have a great coach!

This one cannot be pinned on JPW. Our patchwork O line made a defensive line that, prior to this game was ranked 72nd in total sacks, look like the steel curtain.

Thanks, this really grounds me right now, I think he can bring us back, I hope. I think we really got some good breaks, 4 point win over OM, OT over LSwho, Barn and Uthug had bad years. If the staff can just get half the players I was hoping for on NSD in FEB. we will be back. I will wait to see OU play FL to see if we can pull an OU who got the L to Bos. St. a few years back. RTR.

You're dead to rights on #4 and 5. Keep in mind the slim remainder of Shula holdovers are being flushed out now that we are at the conclusion of this season, with only a very few remaining. We are only going to get better...

Indeed. And he is laying the foundation for some great days ahead, my friend. Roll Tide!

What about the 2 missed field goals by LT tonight? He needs to be more consistent to continue to kick for THE University of Alabama. I'm tired of holding my breath whenever he is lining up for a fg. If he makes those 2 fgs it changes the way that Bama handles their own offense, allowing them to run the ball more and not play from so far behind. I was a bit disappointed you could say.

Living in Georgia I don't get to hear all of Saban's news conferences all year. But a guy just asked him again why we didn't move the ball and Saban said "Well I've answered that, but I'll answer it again, our depth." Just his wit is so cool to watch and listen to.

1: Be happy for the Utah kids, their coaches and staff and their fans. The players may have talked some smack during the game but they more than made up for it. Great team and a great effort tonight.

2: I hate Urban Meyer so hard.

3: Yeah, Utah would get my vote if I had one. Why not?

4: When was the last time we lost a Sugar Bowl?

5: I am more than tickled to death to be in a position to lose a Sugar Bowl.

6: Congratulations to our team on a great season. Considering where this program has had to come from and how much it has had to go through, even with the last two losses I'm very happy and very proud of this team and even prouder to be a fan of the Crimson Tide.

Me, too with the exception of #3:) because they don't play the same caliber of teams on a weekly basis as do the SEC or other top 10 schools.

Well family, I feel terribly. I need a laugh. I've found a marathon of the best television show in the history of television shows (Sanford & Son), so I'm about to watch that until I fall asleep and take my mind off of this game. Next big game for us is in February (signing day). I know we'll show up big for that. It's been great Crimson Nation. Roll Tide Roll.
