 He shouldn't be in the position to kick two hope-and-a-prayer field goals.

its hit or miss with him, look I'm not one to bash players and well, Corey Smith hasn't panned out to what we expected him to be either(at least Leigh hits in practice ) but as far as "hope and a prayer" field goals... that is ANYWHERE on the field with him'

including XPs

Re: please listen!!!

I hate to be so negative, but the team had a lot of "quit" in them tonight. It was just uninspiring football.

You have a lot of quit in you tonight Jeremy, go roll Toomer's Corner again or something to occupy your time.

I think one injury that hasn't been mentioned but had a big impact is Roy Upchurch. When Coffee got hurt the only RB with playing time left was Mark Ingram. And while he made some good plays, there were several times on blitzes that he missed his man leading to the pressure on JPW.

Utah came in fired up and ready to play. Their first offensive series was a thing of beauty, and was obviously scripted needing no huddle, leaving Alabama's defense standing around trying to get lined up while Utah was playing pitch and catch. Still wondering why Coach Saban didn't call a TO to challenge the catch when the Utah WR dropped the ball when he got hit. If nothing else, it would have given him a chance to talk to the defense and try to get thier attention. Utah deserved to win and given the choice, they would be at worst #3 in the final poll depending on how the last two games play out.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is congrats to the Utes, I was so PO'd the way they were running their mouths all week, but as the old saying goes, "To be the man, you got to beat the man", and they just flat out whipped us in all aspects of the game.

I was optimistic in the 2nd half, but when it came to crunch time, they manned up and put it on us.

I just hate these long layoffs, I felt that we would come out playing tough, but we came out flat for some reason, I don't know what happened.

I would like to thank and congratulate the coaches and the players for what they were able to accomplish this year, 12-2 is a great year, but we were 2 short of our goal. I would also like to thank the Seniors for all of their leadership this year, if not for you, I am sure we would have stumbled along the way. Good luck to all of you and I hope you all succeed in all aspects of your life.

Another thing, if Coach Steele is the next DC at Clemson, thanks for all that you brought to the table and I wish you and your family the best of luck.

And lastly, Andre, I have felt sorry for you all week, for not getting to play in this game, do not let this loss haunt you. I am not sure what happened, but I thank you for all you have done for us in the 3 years you were here. I hope you get all the money you can, and whatever happened, I hope the Attorney General goes after the agent and he gets jail time for getting you into trouble.

Ok bama fans, we came up short the last 2 games, but we have had a great season, we are definitely on the way back, we came up a little short, the cupboard is still a little bare, that was evident tonight, now on to the next phase, recruiting...........

To all the recruits reading these sites, if you believe in the plan in place, let it be know we need to do a little more shoring up in certain positions.

Thanks again, players and coaches, I am so proud of you, keep your heads up, no shame in losing to an undefeated team, you have made us all proud.

So true.

I'll be honest here.... I have coached football for many years and here are my two cents. Did AS hurt us? yes.... BUT, after the Florida game I stated to many friends to take Utah in this one. Not to win but with the point spread. That is why I havent posted. What did Florida teach us? Frankly our secondary is weak as water. Honestly, two short and easily get out muscled on jump balls and can't hang in routs against disciplined recievers (How many times did we fall down or out of position to make a tackle?). I know what you are thinking...LSU game, well honestly the QB was slightly better than me. Utah never had to run until the score was in hand to run clock. Secondly, our qb was hounded all night, but he was so afraid to make a mistake, once again, he didn't make key throws. My opinion is this and I hate to say it. We played flat and the whole team did not overcome the losses that occured... I just pray in the future that we get a QB that has touch on deep routes. JPW is a great conservative QB and I appreciate all he has done, but our offense had many key opportunities with wide open recievers. Not one mans fault but if you have to pin disappointment I would say the overall inability to cover recievers. Too tired to hit spell check and hope this doesn't offend anyone. Just being honest. This being said I never expected a twelve win season, great year in my opinion.

All I can say is We came, We Saw, We couldn't block or tackle. 12-2
Utah I tip my hat to you, but I still contend that "Bama isn't Back" We'll know that we are back when the media stops saying "Bama is Back" and games are won in numerous quantities and we look back and say..."wow, we have we really won xx of the last xx" or it won't be a particular win that puts us back or a particular lost game that keeps us from the elite, it'll be an on going process.
Utah will always have the problem of comparative conference denial and they'll suffer through staff changes and recruiting wars. Right now they benefit from a defunct UW, Wash St and UCLA. but the talent they have beat the talent we have because their talent wanted it more was coached better than ours and read nothing but they were going to get it handed to them. Won't always be the case. We had a better year than expected, and get a bitter taste because it didn't turn out as the possibility allowed for. Next year might not be as good (it takes a good bit of circumstantial items to go undefeated..ie health) but the years ahead will be. I do wish though we could get UCF (because I live in Jax and hear about them beating us) and now Utah on a regular season game..

Roll Tide and lets pack out BD for the A Day game.

What about the 2 missed field goals by LT tonight? He needs to be more consistent to continue to kick for THE University of Alabama. I'm tired of holding my breath whenever he is lining up for a fg. If he makes those 2 fgs it changes the way that Bama handles their own offense, allowing them to run the ball more and not play from so far behind. I was a bit disappointed you could say.

Last I checked, 50-yard field goals are exactly considered "gimmes" for the PK. Agree with you normally on his consistency but not his fault tonight... victim of poor distances. This game, more than anything else, shows how much we have depended upon a dominant LT this year to reach many of our accomplishments. It's not just the player himself, but the fact each OL was able to do what they do best in the positions they play the best. JPW, criticism and all, has enjoyed a very productive year. However, as pointed out many times in the past, he's not a guy who brings you from behind to win the game very often. Tonight, he reverted back to where he was in the previous two years... but much of that was because of the OL.

If you're looking for the "how" we got beat tonight, look at the clock. Utah had almost a whole month to perfect and improvise on Florida's game plan against us. How many times did you see our second-tier cover guys pitted against their top two WR's? How many times did you see their QB throw a ball where only his guy could catch it? How often did you see them run the no-huddle to keep our tired personnel on the field? While it's true Utah was better than us tonight, part of that resulted from the fact they had a perfect blueprint for beating us from the UF game... and their coaches realized it. BTW, Clemson had all the opportunity in the world to do the same thing given the time they had to prepare for us... but their coaches didn't quite get it.

Oh... did I mention the fact our gameplan was out the window when Mike Johnson went down? Maybe more than anything else tonight, our fans will realize how much Nick Saban did with this team. I appreciate them and I have all the respect in the world for them... but there's a reason why most picked us middle-of-the-pack in the West. We have great-hearted kids... and they overachieved all season and we ought to appreciate the run. RTR

The only thing I'll congratulate Utah on is having really cute cheerleaders.

That no huddle hurry up offense is a cheap, lousy way to win a football game, just like all that smack-talk is a cheap, lousy way to act.

I may not have posted very much, but yes I have followed for a long time. I hate it if you took it personally I was just trying to offer a reminder. I know we are all upset.

Can Andre Smith come back?

Not will he, because at this point, I don't care either way

but if he comes back, would it be a violation?

When it seemed UT completed every 3rd and long against us it reminded me of how Florida seemed to complete every critical 3rd and long as well. I did notice some of those low passes reminded me of the passes Tebow threw in the SECCG.

If Andre leaves for the NFL I hope we get a freshman comparable to fill his shoes. There's alot of time to practice but seeing what our OL was like without Andre and we lose our Center and QB I forsee some growing pains in the early part of next year. We'll have the talent just got to get teh experience.
