Centrists and right-wingers have always been fine with equality. What they do not support are nonsensical attempts to create equitable outcomes.
I wish people would stop playing these games. Everyone is in favor of "equal something". Conservatives believe in "equality of opportunity" which is the belief that everyone should have the same opportunities to succeed and if you don't then it is likely on you as the individual while Progressives believe in "equality of outcome" which states that since everyone doesn't start from the same place the government should endlessly jigger around with the laws in the country so that every "identity group" (mostly racial but maybe a few others), when looked at as a whole, has the exact same success as any other identity group.
Well, if any of what you said were either 1) true, or 2) germain to the discussion about equal opportunity then I might see your point. However, none of these "facts" have anything to do with equal opportunities for US citizens. When people talk about equal opportunities the discussion is about the individual. Can you succeed in today's America given all the benefits that accrue to you as a US citizen or are you being endlessly torn down but all that is not "right" in your world. Tarrifs, the US Government taking partial ownership in US businesses and the ubiquitous "Dear Leader" comment has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion about equal opportunities versus quality of outcome.
