Link: Former Tide Player Charles Bediako Sues NCAA (Injunction) to Return to Bama

I have mixed emotions as well. But I also am tired of playing European professionals on teams, like Arizona, Illinois, Purdue, Tennessee, Oklahoma, etc etc etc
I’ve wondered if this isn’t a ploy to force the NCAA into a free for all or immediately remove eligibility from Euro-pros.

I had no idea that this was already happening. I guess other players are now catching on to this loophole.

What other players can we pull from the G-Leauge that still have some eligibility?

I read at the time that he couldn't get NIL money because of being Canadian. I have no idea if that's true or not though.
That’s what I had read also. He couldn’t get the NIL so the only way he could get paid was to go pro. I think in his arguments he said he wouldn’t have gone pro had he known revenue sharing was coming.

James H. Roberts Jr. of the Tuscaloosa Circuit Court ruled that Bediako "is immediately eligible" to participate in all team activities with the Crimson Tide. He also ruled that the NCAA is "restrained from threatening, imposing, attempting to impose, suggesting or implying any penalties or sanctions" against Bediako, Alabama, its coaches or players.

From what I've read, if he's eventually ruled ineligible there would most likely be no punishment. The reason being is that guys who have been allowed to play NCAA BB are Euro pros... and professional leagues are professional leagues. The NCAA did this to themselves when they opened this door with European league players. The fact they made that initial decision knowing the floodgates it would open strongly suggests they realize they have no legal basis to deny guys like this a chance to make NIL $. And while I'm not crazy about the idea, if other NCAA schools are allowed to do this, then we're simply playing by the stupid rules college sports are allowing.

Yeah, I get it. And I'm opposed to the Euro invasion as well. As I stated in the FB "Age Limit" thread my opinion is if you turn 23 before Sept 1st, you're too old to compete. Exception being a medical redshirt for you Senior/Final year of eligibility.

Define avg season. Probably finish top 15 and elite 8 without and maybe finish top 10 and closer to championship with. Either way good to great season.
Think we'd likely finish top 6 in SEC... but SEC Tourney and NCAA Tourney would totally depend upon our matchups. Meet up with a team with some serious bigs (think Creighton of past few years), that's likely where the season would end. I think CB vaults us into Elite Eight/Final Four discussion - IF he'd be as good at tourney time as when he ended his tenure with us. Whatever the case, even though we're excited to have him (and rightfully so), I think we need to temper expectations until we see what he brings to the court.

Don't really see where Charles differs from Motiejus Krivas (7'2" Arizona who played for Lithuanian Zalgris II, reserve team for the professional Zalgris team, Sven Djopmo (6'2" Arizona who played for Nanterre 92 in professional team in France), Tomislav Ivisic (7'1" Illinois who played three seasons for SC Derby in Adriatic League First Division), Mihailo Petrovic (6'2" Illinois who played for KK Mega in Adriatic League First Division), Dame Sarr (6'6" Duke who played for FC Barcelona who competes in Euroleague and Liga ACB), etc., etc., etc.

From a court perspective, how in the world would one argue that players in Europe who play in the highest professional leagues are eligible to play in CBB, but someone who's never played in our top basketball league cannot? Again, the NCAA did this to themselves and are going to reap the results of opening that door. If Oats doesn't take advantage of the rules open to him, he'd be like Dabo in CFB.
