Link: Former Tide Player Charles Bediako Sues NCAA (Injunction) to Return to Bama

Nate doesn’t strike me as a rule breaker by nature. You have to wonder if there is some documentation somewhere telling Charles that rev share was not on the horizon, and that in turn influenced his decision to go into the draft because NIL wasn’t an option for him

Nate is very analytical, and wouldn’t venture into this fight unless he had something in his corner

This is pure speculation on my part. Just trying to add some logic to this.

The BIG question to me is how he's grown/matured as a player and what "new skills" has he developed and how does that gel with our offensive MO?

No question he'll help on defense/defensive rebounding!

I find it odd that in the year 2026, after the year of the player, in college sports, no basketball journalists are siding with Charles. Other than Gary Parrish’s “I told you so”, it’s almost 100% on the NCAA’s side on this. That’s very odd. Very odd.

And “because it’s Alabama” doesn’t make sense either. Something else is lurking. And it could be the disbanding of the NCAA which is where they all have their livelihood

Imagine if the courts said “you are a pro league and you cant discriminate as to who can and cannot join your league based on their player status”

At that point, it’s all over.

One of these media types arguing against Bediako needs to show me how this is different from what other teams are doing.

I read that this would be his last semester of eligibility because of the 5 year window. 2years would be fantastic though.
That’s the next lawsuit he’s gonna file. Bring it on is what I say.

What a BS statement coming from the NCAA who has already let international pro athletes take away opportunities from high school students.

It’s Bama and he didn’t have to fly over an ocean to get here. Notice how there was very little outcry about euro pros compared to this. If our name was Duke more media folks would be supportive.

I’m actually proud of CNO for pushing the boundaries of the new rules the NCAA created. They started this mess and CNO was like hold my beer. Burn their house down coach. It’s beyond time for the NCAA to die. I have wanted this toothless organization gone for over a decade now.

Next season go get Josh Primo, JD Davison, and whoever else you want. If the NCAA is going to make a mockery of college athletics then join the fun. What has worked doesn't work anymore so until something changes do whatever you want to do to be successful.

We just played OU that just had multi year europro play center for them. Dumb or not, it’s a different world now.

You are correct, Cajun, it's a very different world in college athletics.

While I don't particularly like the idea of players going pro then coming back and playing college, I can't see any differene in an NBA player doing it and a European player doing it. Both are professional contracts, but it seems the NCAA want to make them different.

The NCAA created this mess, and they're going to have to clean it up. Much like CNS asking if this is what we want college football to be (speaking to favorable rule interpretations for the offense in football), CNO is essentially doing the same thing in basketball. I wonder if the backlash would be the same if CNO was doing this at Duke, UNC, or some other basketball blueblood.
