BREAKING Alabama Expected to Hire Adrian Klemm as OL Coach

Weaknesses of the 2023 Pats? Pocket time, yards before contact, and individual block win rate.

Not sure I like this hire.

He’s produced some positive results in CFB from what I can see.

I don’t care about whatever happened in the NFL because it’s almost a different game.

He had 4 pretty solid years at UCLA and another at Oregon wrt to Running the Ball

2012 - 2,671 Yards Rushing at 4.6 YPC and 29 TD’s. RB1 Had 1,700+ Yards at 6.0 YPC

2013 - 2,556 Yards Rushing at 4.7 YPC and 36 TD’s. RB by Committee with 3 guys over 500 yards

2014 - 2,724 Yards Rushing at 5.0 YPC and 26 TD’s. RB1 had 1,500+ Yards at 6.3 YPC

2015 - 2,299 Yards Rushing at 5.3 YPC and 26 TD’s. RB1 had 1,300+ Yards at 5.7 YPC

2016 - Dumpster Fire year for UCLA - Terrible at everything. Don’t look LOL

2022 - 2,805 Yards Rushing at 5.7 YPC and 34 TD’s. By Committee with a 1,000 yard RB and a 700 Yard RB and Nix at QB with 500 yards.

Oregon was also #1 in the NCAA that year for least sacks allowed.

I don’t know much else about him or if PAC-12 Success transfers.

But the statistical results are encouraging and leagues better than what we had going on in 2025.

So fingers crossed the success translates.

I looked, now I can't unsee it.

If people want to feel better, Kap did that bad, then he actually somehow did worse one year (fun fact, last year was only Kap's third worst rushing offense). That's amazing work on Kap's part and he wasn't in trouble with the NCAA and getting sued by players like Klemm was in his very very very bad year.

I don't think he's the guy to fix the running game, he's generally seen as more of a recruiter, but basically at his worse he's still not worse than Kap so there's that.

Edit: If you want the clear upside on him, he was Pac-12 recruiter of the year and also named the best non-power conference recruiter prior to that. Of course it turns out he was breaking NCAA rules but clearly a good recruiter.

That 2016 UCLA season looks like a full blown come apart where it’s too hard to know why without having been a UCLA fan who would intimately know why imo.

But still the other 5 years I listed were solid at worst to really good at best.

Even if he’s a better recruiter than actual position coach the end results were definitely positive.

So I’m looking for the potential good… lol

I get jumped on routinely for “being negative” (not by you of course) and since there seems to be more positive here on the surface I’m going the positive route.

I won’t get credit for it but… eh I tried.

I've rebranded to critical™, give it a try!

When I first dug into his resume I was actually really down on him, in part because I came across that 2016 thing early, but also just looking at his resume and trying to figure it out. It was puzzling.

So, let's get the bad out there.
He had the second worst rushing offense in college football in 2016, an epic collapse probably fueled by the NCAA investigation and the suit brought against him. He then took two years off, not just because the show cause because he didn't work in the NFL either.
He then got promoted to OL coach for the Steelers and left before the season was over (reportedly didn't get along with Matt Canada).
The Oregon year, nothing seemed to go wrong but he still left.
The Patriots year he also left early, but this time the public reason was health although there were reported behind the scenes confrontations (yelling at Matt Groh for poor talent on the offensive line).

Then he took a year off again. So to summarize, epic collapse, three years off, left two jobs prematurely. Those are red flags. But, great recruiter (probably better than Kap) and when there weren't any issues his offensive lines seemed to at least meet expectations (demonstrably better than Kap).

The more I thought about it though the more I thought may be what Alabama's staff needs is someone yelling at them. So I started to warm up a bit to the idea of the hire.

That cover crimson video posted earlier from Clint stated the 2016 season went left due to Mora deciding to change offensive philosophy from spread system to pro style system (probably for recruiting and to make Josh Rosen happy) without the correct personnel to run it.... No transfer portal then.

Also Josy Rosen missed half the season with a shoulder injury and they started a true freshman so defenses focused on the run

Anyway.. Look forward to seeing what he can do here in this system and think he'll be successful in all facets

Hopefully he’ll stay the full year. Not overly excited he’s gonna turn us into a running juggernaut.

Seems like I have heard in the past several people not getting along with Matt Canada, he only lasted 1 season at LSU.

NFL live was trying to get Matt Canada fired for years, it was all they ever talked about... and he hasn't worked since that job.... Horrible play caller.

Sometimes people disagree with incompetent co workers... Klemm requested an early release to work for Oregon and got an associate head coach title plus run game coordinator and did damn well at that.

Supposedly the Patriots line in 23 had injuries with 11 different combinations of players required that season.

IDK, seems like DeBoer moved lightning fast on this one after Kap got fired. I trust they got positive information regarding everything, including his health that people are worried about.

Good thing there are no more rules😉

So this is where Im supposed to say.....great hire, let's see what happens.

Great hire....let's see what happens. DeBoer going all in on fixing the run game that isnt a focal point of his offensive philosophy anyway.
