CKD obviously is trying to address the running game, but I'm not even sure it needs to be an amazing run game to complement the passing game. Just strong enough to remain a threat.
We hired a college offensive tackle? The things are getting low if we recruit guys in the portal as coaches. Will a Mod please edit the Title of this thread to read "Adrian"?
Thank you.
Everyone says run more…he moves that way, and now we bash that. Can’t win.So this is where Im supposed to say.....great hire, let's see what happens.
Great hire....let's see what happens. DeBoer going all in on fixing the run game that isnt a focal point of his offensive philosophy anyway.

Can you break NCAA rules in college football 2026?Of course it turns out he was breaking NCAA rules but clearly a good recruiter.
Matt Canada must be a tool, Ive heard "he cant get along" with anybody. Wherever hes gone, thats been a problem.Seems like I have heard in the past several people not getting along with Matt Canada, he only lasted 1 season at LSU.
2016 happened because their star QB got injured less than halfway through the season and they had to play with an unprepared backup the entire season. Josh Rosen went down around game five and didnt play the rest of the season. That 2016 UCLA season looks like a full blown come apart where it’s too hard to know why without having been a UCLA fan who would intimately know why imo.
But still the other 5 years I listed were solid at worst to really good at best.
Even if he’s a better recruiter than actual position coach the end results were definitely positive.
So I’m looking for the potential good… lol
I get jumped on routinely for “being negative” (not by you of course) and since there seems to be more positive here on the surface I’m going the positive route.
I won’t get credit for it but… eh I tried.
Bigger picture thinking, I think it was the most important thing DeBoer could have done. I felt if he did nothing and went into next season with Kap, DeBoers leash would have gotten drastically shortened if it the running game didnt get fixed. This way, he shows he has the rocks to make coaching changes, hes trying to address the problem and that goes a long way.CKD obviously is trying to address the running game, but I'm not even sure it needs to be an amazing run game to complement the passing game. Just strong enough to remain a threat.
You must be new here.Staff by all appearances is learning and moving in a good direction. I have said before if they listen to new hires like Nix then the team should be in good shape. Good off season so far. Sky is falling people should be on hold until we are in season now or at least until if there’s some big injury in spring.

Not just the run game, but better pass protection.CKD obviously is trying to address the running game, but I'm not even sure it needs to be an amazing run game to complement the passing game. Just strong enough to remain a threat.
This I like. "He loves the game, but at the same time preaches violence."![]()
Alabama reportedly hiring former NFL veteran as offensive line coach
Alabama is reportedly hiring former NFL veteran assistant Adrian Klemm as the Crimson Tide's next offensive line coach.sports.yahoo.com
This should not come as surprised. let's see if DeBoer hires another OL coach.
I think most of us need to change expectations of Klemm and the tasks he has to do to fix OL. I look at him as a teacher, someone who can correct their stance, fix the communication issues and improve the run fits. I think he's the perfect guy for this job. just coach them up and develop them. Another assistant OL that can really coach them up as well. I think that's the key element we all are missing right here: Two OL coaches that can really coach those guys up and develop them and work well together. Do that, and the Yard per carries won't be a concern. One thing to give DeBoer credit for on this hire, this is certainly a big swing type of move. He's who one would have hoped Kap could be when he was hired. He's had a stable rushing game for multiple years in a row, he was an amazing recruiter. It's not without risk, you hire a guy that's held three different OL jobs in three years and two of those didn't go quite as well, it's not the safe play. But, the upside is there.
I also think it's fair to disregard the bad year at California due to circumstances getting out of hand, if you also disregard the Oregon year as well. One reason I've felt so inclined to point out areas of concern are because some people (not accusing anyone here, just in general) are quick to bring that Oregon year up. It was just one year, they were good before he was there, they were good after. He didn't break anything but he didn't fix anything either. So if we set that aside, we set aside the 2016 year, I think we have a relatively clear view of him.
I originally felt he wasn't the guy to rehabilitate a running game. He's had a good, but not exceptional running game at UCLA, and in theory I'd like a guy who had for instance a dominant SEC running game, knowing he can install what it takes to excel. This is still another west coast guy being installed.
However, I did dig deeper and I found this:
In 2008 SMU had the worst rushing offense in college football by yards, the second worst in YPC. I will stop and point something out. I'm really perplexed that lately when I've been looking up hires I keep seeing some of the worst rushing offenses. It's clear some of these programs do not prize this aspect as much as others. You can't be this bad (41 rushing yards per game?!?), unless you're not even really trying. So there is a general point of emphasis thing, and in theory I'd prefer you look at places where they actually care about the run game.
Having said all that, in 2009 they returned the coach (June Jones) and the OC from the 2008 season. They hired Klemm as the OL coach. Their YPC went from a dreadful 2.3 to a within context, much umproved 3.8. It jumped about 40 spots in the rankings and more than doubled the output. Then in 2010, it went up to 4.8 and while still not a balanced offense, the YPC was ranked 29th. His last year it fell back to 4.2, but we know June Jones isn't exactly known for his running game.
After he left the running game maintained at 4.3, then fell to 3.5, 3.3 and then June Jones was out of a job (ignore the run game at your own peril). Notably, the three years he was there were Jones best seasons really and the three years without him where Jones couldn't run, his team went 6-20.
So, I don't think Klemm is the guy to install a dominant running game at Alabama, I'm not sure they even can with the "fits" they have assembled. But he might be one of the better guys to try to manage a run game on a team that doesn't care that much about the run game.
