What does this mean?Cleaned up the glass. They had 17 offensive rebounds first half but just 8 second half. If your taking the ball out of basket every time the other team can’t set up defense

Lest not forget; their best player(18pts a game) was out of the game with 11 minutes and only 2 points.Rugby players don’t have the same stamina as basketball players. Refs def didn’t change how they called it. UT was gassed.
Round one we were missing Allen and Holloway. Life happens.Lest not forget; their best player(18pts a game) was out of the game with 11 minutes and only 2 points.
Great win down the stretch ; none the less.

That’s because it wasn’t their worst effort. Stats and even your eyes can deceive. It’s easy for fans to say ‘we don’t protect the ball, well’ or ‘we aren’t hustling’ or ‘we aren’t trying’, bit it’s deeper than that.We might have played our worst game of the year, on the road, and still beat UT.
Well said and very true...referees by their calls -- or lack of them -- do determine the pace and nature of individual games. There's a sweet spot for fouls and it is somewhere between 43 and 25. As you well noted, the ability to adjust is crucial. That’s because it wasn’t their worst effort. Stats and even your eyes can deceive. Just look at the Arkansas Game. 43 fouls called in that game. Tonight? 25. Which game was more physical?
I saw UT commit more over the back fouls tonight than I’ve seen all year, yet one was called. Just one.
There was one play where they were showing one of their big men hitting his head. And two seconds before he’s raking Allen across the face knocking him onto the floor though Allen has obvious position.
We adjusted. We always do. But sometimes you have a plan. And the officials impact that plan by letting UT knock, bump, push, poke, slap, etc your guards. Or they allow defense so tight that off of the court would be a misdemeanor
Officiating affects our ability to execute our style. And we have to adjust. We always do. But (even though many of our fans won’t stop long enough to consider) we manage to adapt to the style.
It’s a 40 minute game for a reason.
TBB and Noah won’t have great stats. But they were impactful, especially in the 2nd half. Houston played so dang hard. Even Bethea in limited minutes gave good effort.
I saw Nate hug TBB like a dad hugs his kid. With pride. I saw Philon and Trelly both embrace Noah. I saw a lot to be proud of.
I wish as a fan base we could dig a bit deeper. We are seeing a limited team that’s fighting hard. 8 in a row. 9 out of last 10.
I love this team. Warts and all.
Honestly, I think 90% of the complainers don't watch college basketball regularly. That’s because it wasn’t their worst effort. Stats and even your eyes can deceive. It’s easy for fans to say ‘we don’t protect the ball, well’ or ‘we aren’t hustling’ or ‘we aren’t trying’, bit it’s deeper than that.

Or have played it...Honestly, I think 90% of the complainers don't watch college basketball regularly.
I; for one, have played, coached and been watching Bama Basketball faithfully since chanting "we want Leon" on his recruiting visit at ColemanOr have played it...
Granted it’s been years since I’ve played at this point. But basketball wasn’t designed to be a rugby scrum. And I knew when I saw Daily as lead ref we were in for a scrum. Adams loves to blow the whistle. Daily lets teams bludgeon each other to death.Or have played it...
I've done all of the above, except I was gone by the time Leon arrived. I'd add in reffing at a low level...I; for one, have played, coached and been watching Bama Basketball faithfully since chanting "we want Leon" on his recruiting visit at Coleman
