Who's watching the World Cup?

For the first time in a World Cup since I've been alive, we had multiple players on the field capable of playing with the best players in the world. After all, several of them do that - with good success - as their day jobs.

However, what we saw last night was a team that didn't actually believe they were good enough to win.

Were they a good enough team to win? Maybe, but we'll never know. Rather than coming out against the best competition they faced in the tournament and playing their best game, they played their worst - full of mental mistakes they weren't making in other games...

I hope Poch will stay. He might, but I suspect he will be offered a top club and will be tempted to go. I think he ultimately enjoyed working with these guys.
I have enjoyed watching the team and the amazing crowd support. The WC's being here will do a great deal for our soccer going forward. I am proud of Poch and proud to see the team play with passion and grit. We have some talented youngsters coming up. Onward and upward!
surely his tenure has proven to all parties the possibilities we can create by hiring someone outside the US Soccer structure

If Coach Nate Oats we're coaching the team, he would say we need to get longer and take more shots.

That was a mighty big dude that scored the last goal for Belgium.

6 of the final 8 teams represent European Soccer (that is if the Brits claim Europe lol). England has by far the best, most competitive league, probably followed by Spain, France and Germany. The day we can field a US soccer team packed with players starting in those leagues will be the day we compete for World Championships. We have come a long way but still a long way to go at what seems to be an excruciatingly slow pace. But I will take it. I still love this team and super proud of their accomplishment. Some good soccer coming up and I will be watching every second of it.

This is the most talented men's team we have ever fielded.

Still not good enough, but also light years from where we were less than 40 years ago.

When we qualified for the first time in 40 years for the 1990 WC you couldn't even watch the games on tv and it was a miracle that we beat Trinidad & Tobago on the road to even qualify that year.
