Sen. John Fetterman is the best Democratic candidate for 2028, IMHO.....

Well, he's unstable and probably a one-off, so...

Beat to the punch. I mean... maybe I'm asking for too much, but having some nice solid, thoughtful people in Congress would be nice.

Israel's leaders do not have any interest in the well being of the US and its people. They seek only to use us for their own ends and the positives seem outweighed by the negatives at this point.

Individually, they can be pretty nice, but with that ruling party. About 30 years ago, I had to have a left ACL graft. I bought a piece of equipment no longer used, but it was essentially a Little Oscar, filled with ice, with tubes leading to a wrap you placed around the affected joint. I was a member of a support group, one of which was an Israeli. The equipment wasn't available there, so I shipped mine to him. He had his surgery and recovery and sent it back. Then, an email arrived, with his asking how I knew he'd send it back. I just told him that, if he didn't it would have diminished him, not me. He wrote back that I had restored his faith in humanity and sent me a CD of Israeli folk songs. I played it once. I think you had to be Jewish to appreciate it... :)

Fetterman warns of rise of "dirtbag left."

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) is offering a warning about the rise of a “dirtbag left” within the Democratic Party, a reference to candidates on the left who have run and won primaries while identifying themselves as democratic socialists.

The term “dirtbag left” refers to left-wing political critics who are generally supportive of progressive and democratic socialist causes and openly critical of mainstream Democrats. Writer Amber A’Lee Frost, one of the co-hosts of the “dirtbag left” podcast “Chapo Trap House,” is credited with coining the term.

Is Fetterman really just a Democrat from the 2008-2012 era? I don't follow his positions closely, but he supports iIsrael, says socialism isn't the way to go and is more centrist on some social issues. He's still a person of the left just not the current Democratic Party. He's more early Obama or even a Clinton style Democrat.

I don’t see him as a centrist as much as an opportunist. He tries to play the traditional “blue dog” democrat like Doug Jones and Machin did but he has far more Old Republican Party vibes.

More or less he is far more of a Pittsburgh conservative (yeah I know he is from the Philly area but he acts more like the West part of the state than the east) than an Obama democrat

I understand pols changing parties, when the ideology of the party changes radically. I thought more Republicans would leave MAGA. Fetterman is not out of line with mainline Democratic themes. I would regard a switch would be a mistake on his part, from several aspects...

As a reminder, the same people telling us McConnell is unfit because he's in a hospital (and I actually tend to concur until we get some sort of actual confirmation) are the same people who told us a stroke didn't even affect Fetterman (again - "we want the seat", which is fine but quit pretending you don't), and he's what he's always been. The very same people who told us that Biden waited until the cameras were off and danced as John Travolta. The same hypocrites who just tried to foist a Nazi tattoo wearing rapist on us as normal.

I said it earlier: Fetterman still votes with them 91% of the time. He's a Democrat, he's just not insane as far as his leftism (the jury of course is out on his actual mind). It wasn't all that long ago that the higher ups in the party had enough brains to understand, "You know, if we primary this incumbent AND HE RUNS AS AN INDY, we might well lose the seat. Better for a 91% percenter than the other party having the seat."

And don't think "ooh, we toppled Sinema" changes that. Gallego is in trouble this week, and he barely managed to beat an absolute kook.

I can't imagine Fetterman as a REPUBLICAN. His differences with his party beyond Israel and some propriety issues (that aren't bad) seem to be more style than actual substance.

But by all means, Democrats, make Fetterman a worse enemy than Trump and take your chances. No matter how many times you keep screwing it up, THIS TIME will be different, right?

We are now a society above reproach because literally everyone is acting in their self-interest.

Rather than deflecting the criticism with whataboutism, we need to return to a society that calls out and polices political self-interest wherever it emerges.

We need to get back to calling spades spades and dealing with it. That's what im gonna do...

Why do Americans have to 100% support Israel, no questions asked? I’m not against everything Israel, but I don’t like many things they have been doing in recent years. I also don’t like how this country just seems to bend to their will whenever they come crying.

Contempt for Israel is not anti-American. We have a right to ask questions. Blind loyalty gets you crap like Trump and a disgraceful war with Iran.

I do not. They have manipulated us for years for goals that are not aligned with out interests. But you are right, questioning them is seen as being a traitor to our country, or even worse, cheering for the Barn! Heresy!
