Will 2007's offense be the best Bama offense?

Just wanted to see how you guys felt about out offense this coming season. It excites me to think about how high-powered we could be. The O-Line should be better, as CNS is giving the guys a nice wake up call in the weight room, hopefully it can fix some of the stamina problems on the line. The most exciting has to be our skill positions though. DJ Hall and Keith Brown are two of the best receivers we've had in a LONG time. The backfield should be stacked and the number of RB's we have should increase competition during practice, hopefully benefiting all of them. I hope the Spring Game gives us a decent idea of what we will be seeing during the season!

As in previous years it all depends on our offensive line. From an experience standpoint our offense should be fine in adjusting to a new scheme. Applewhite is probably smart enough to know that you give it to them a piece at a time and incorporate things they already are comfortable with.

From what I've read Applewhite doesn't run one kind of offense such as a spread option. He runs whatever he feels is working. The offense might come out in a power I and run it for a few plays. Then come out in a spread or pro set.

I think our offense will be more productive given our offense line does it's job.

Our Oline isn't the best ever, it's got potential to be really good. Noway I can say this is the best Offense ever atm. I'm thinking it could rival some of the best.

It's a good question, SFT, and I am pretty excited about the potential of next year's O...

If we get real physical on the LOS and start dominating like we should then I have no doubt we'll see major strides offensively..

..along with that, you have to think next year might be the year we start putting up points again. Our defense has kept us in a lot of games the last few years but maybe it's time to get things going on the OTHER SIDE of the ball.

Bringing in some spread and ingenuity, with the new coaching staff, can only help.

Our best offense? I would guess that is still 2-3 years down the road.

Whenever Hannah suited up, you had your best offense ever.

You may be right, but I think that Saban will help the line, which would be our biggest downfall.

You have to think though JPW will probably break some records, DJ is breaking record and if it weren't for DJ, then KB would be breaking the receiving records. The only way I see it not being one of the best is

A) The O-Line is somehow worse than last year.
B) The Play-calling is worse than last year
C) Of course the risk of injury.

I think it will be interesting to see how they perform out there. If we were putting up 31 points against good opponents in 05 with a crap line, I see no reason why we can't do it next year.

We shall see!

I don't think it will be that good, and I don't see applewhite being in the SEC or at Bama for very long. Has everyone forgotten Rice's bowl game?

Troy 41 - Rice 17

Troy has a good defense.. but 17 points? in a bowl game?

Just my thoughts

Since you seem to be struggling with Common Sense in Footbal 101, let me help you out.

First of all, he was coaching Rice type players, they're pretty far down in the recruiting pecking order, therefore, he probably didn't have an abundance of blue-chippers to work with. Matter of fact, I'd dare say that the number would be right about ZERO.

Secondly, did I miss something or is there now a law or NCAA rule that mandates that bowl games must be scoring frenzies? We've won NCs in the past by scoring less than 17 points in bowl games.

Finally, Coach Applewhite did a good enough job at Rice to attract a lot of attention from folks that are more qualified to judge him than some SA on a message board. :rolleye2:

One game doesn't make a coach, dude.

It was also about that time that Applewhite was contacted about possibly coming to Bama.

The potential is there to be good, but I think many on the forum are forgetting that we will be installing a entirely new offense and defense this off-season - I don't expect a polished, high-powered machine to smoothly roll up the points this fall.

I think the 2007 offense will be more effective than we've seen over the last few years, but that's not saying very much...

For the last four years, I gave CMS the benefit of the doubt, and expected the Tide to "start slow, then gel by mid-season". I was even naive enough to think that as late as last September, after we just got by Hawaii. After the Tennessee game, I had serious doubts, though.

This season, I'm going to fix my broken record and say it once again, this time expecting results. I still think the Tide may start a little slow on offense, then build steam around mid-season, and finish strong. I think the teams that have the absolute best shot at beating Bama are the ones who play us early on (Arkansas, UGA, and FSU).

...we'll see...

...oh, and another thing...

Our rivals love to rub it in our face that CNS lost to UAB at LSU in his first season. Well, UAB caught them at a good time in the season that year
(2000), right before they went on a huge roll, and finished strong that year, including their first win over Bama at Baton Rouge since 1969.

I know the Offense will be fine, but the best ever? Not this early on. It takes time to build a great Offense and Defense. 2007 will be a good to better but not the best ever. Then again who knows with Coach Saban the Tide could do some great things this up coming season. Coach Shula ask for explosion at certain times in a game. When the fourth quarter arrived the team was not in shape and did not respond. That will not be a problem in 2007 and beyond. :BigA:

Sssooooooooo .......... Rice considered CMA for their HC opening after they had hired him as the youngest OC in the country , lsu tried to hire him as OC and the Tide nabs him . I guess he must suck . Right ?

Oh really? and Troy is playing with blue-chippers? are you kidding me? Rice was supposed to have better players, a better team, and better coaches, in 4 quarters they barely made 17 points and even those points were on controversal plays. And no bowl games aren't supposed to be scoring frenzies, but I would expect him to put up more than 17 points against a team that bama considers to be inferior.

Indeed, we should all be judged on one poor performance.

Especially when our 'performance' is manifested by a bunch of 18-22 years olds.

Jaco, I believe you should slow down and re-think this one.

Rice Starting QB didn`t play (hurt shoulder). The backup qb still threw for 305 yds. it was his 5 ints that were a killer. They still managed 344 yds of total offense.

The Mike Shula offense isn't coming back. Give it up.
