Sam,

You're doing a great job on this thread, and please keep up the good work. I contributed a lot to this thread a year ago, but unfortunately time constraints have kept me from doing the same thing this year. With that in mind, thanks a ton for all of the work you've put into this, it's a great resource.

Appreciate it. :) Thanks for the info. Wondered why you were being a stranger this time around. :eek2: :BigA:

Defensive end Brandon Williams of Fort Worth South Hills said he will forgo his senior season and enter the NFL draft. Williams (6-5, 246), who led the Big 12 with 13 sacks, said the NFL draft advisory board gave him a third-round grade and Tech's coaches advised him to stay.
With Crabtree, Williams, etc. gone, it's going to be fairly tough sledding for the Red Raiders next year. They'll do okay, I'm sure, but they won't be making any national news.

USC safety Taylor Mays has decided to forgo the NFL Draft and return to USC for his senior season. Mays is already a three-time All-American, and he'll get it again next year I'm sure.

This is big news for the Trojans. They'll be back in a BCS game next year, yet again, no doubt about that.

Has there been any official word on Percy Harvin? A Gator friend of mine said he was going to the NFL, but I couldn't find anything official. Has he made his announcement yet?

Wow. That's huge. I'm shocked that he's coming back. It's one thing for a guy like Tebow that doesn't project as well to the NFL, but Mays is a projected top 10 pick.

Nothing yet, but... believe it or not quite a few people actually think he's coming back.

:eek2:

Honestly, though, even if he doesn't, Florida is just going to reload. If Harvin leaves, you can bet the farm on their latest five-star recruit Andre Debose will come in and contribute in the same way as a true freshman. He'll come in and be a solid 500 / 500 guy for them right away.

No kidding, that stuff is unreal.

Here is my question... has there ever been a four-time All-American? I cannot remember one, and I know Alabama has never had one. In fact, we've only had two three-time All-Americans.

That has got to be a record.

And I thought you knew college football... :)
Via wikipedia (the source of all information...), there have been three 4-time All-Americans, and these HOFers are:

Marshall Newell, Tackle, 1890, 1891, 1892, 1893 Harvard
Frank Hinkey, End, 1891, 1892, 1893, 1894 Yale
Gordon Brown, Guard, 1897, 1898, 1899, 1900 Yale

Taylor Mays would be the first non-Ivy league 4-time All-American, and the first since 1900. Pretty stout.

I would like to see Peria Jerry declare as well. That would put a gaping hole in the DL to go with an already mediocre back 7. That could signal an early end to the Rebs SEC West title hopes.
Peria Jerry is gone anyway, he was a senior this season.

I thought he was just a Jr.

But upon looking further you are indeed correct. There is however another Jerry on roster that is a Jr. so maybe that is what I was thinking. ESPN lists them both from Batesville (Brothers?)
Yes..they are brothers. John, the one that's staying, is an offensive lineman.

Ball State quarterback Nate Davis has decided to give up his senior season to enter the NFL draft. Cardinals coach Stan Parrish made the announcement Tuesday in a news conference at the school. Davis threw for 26 touchdowns and only eight interceptions this season and his quarterback rating was 13th in the nation. The previous season, he passed for school records of 3,667 yards and 30 touchdowns. He leaves as the school's leader in touchdown passes (74), yards passing (9,233), attempts (1,124) and completions (678).

Another big loss for the Bulldogs. University of Georgia junior cornerback Asher Allen announced on Tuesday afternoon that he will be entering the 2009 NFL Draft. Allen, a 5-10, 198-pound native of Tucker, Ga., started all 13 games this past season for the 10th-ranked Bulldogs and ranked fourth on the team in tackles with 53. Also, he led the team with seven pass breakups and had one fumble recovery. In 2007, Allen finished second on the team in tackles with 64. Overall, Allen started the past 24 games at Georgia. He finished with 141 tackles (114 solo, 27 asst.) and three interceptions, including two against #10 Hawaii in the 2008 Sugar Bowl, in his career. Allen excelled as a kick returner too, setting a school record with 28 returns for 690 yards in 2007.

Florida State safety Myron Rolle will enter the NFL draft..... for 2010. Rolle won a Rhodes scholarship in November and plans to seek a one-year master's degree in medical anthropology, The New York Times reported Monday in an entry on its college football blog. Rolle, from Galloway, N.J., got his undergraduate degree in pre-med after two and a half years, and has been taking graduate courses at Florida State this year.

Absolutely the best news I've heard all day. I've had my eye on this guy for some time, and in my heart of hearts, I believe that he should be the QB of the future for my NFL team (the 49ers). We'd be fools if we didn't find a way to snag him.

Ah, good for your Niners, but personally I was hoping to see him stick around at Ball State and spank Auburn next year.

LSU tailback Charles Scott and left tackle Ciron Black will announce at a press conference at the school tomorrow, with Les Miles alongside, whether or not they will forgo their senior season and enter the NFL Draft or return to LSU.

I talked to my neighbor, an LSU grad from the late 1960's, and according to him it's widely expected that both will return next season at LSU. He is usually on top of these things, and I figure he's right here too.. take it FWIW.

I think they both would benefit by coming back. And we would too.

Scott staying at LSU + Coffee leaving Bama = Richardson (100%) at Bama
