WR Duron Carter

Measurables: 6'4", 210 lbs, 4.5 40
Profile: Scout.com: Duron Carter Profile

Report:

Carter is a tall, fast, rangy athletic wide receiver. He originally signed with Ohio State coming out of HS in the 2009 signing class. He was considered one of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2009 class. He played his freshman year at OSU but he had academic problems and was declared ineligible for their bowl game. He transferred to Coffeeville Community College where he played for one season. On April 2nd he committed to Alabama and plans to sign and enroll at UA for the 1st summer session in June. He will have three years to play two years. He has all the physical attributes to be a big contributor to the team and play a considerable amount his junior and senior years. And, of course, as Cris Carter's son, he has the pedigree and the example to follow.

We'll miss the JUUUUUUUUULIO. But we get a DUUUUUUUUUURON. He has a great opportunity to go pro in 2 years if he keeps his academics up. Lets hope he does it.

I was wondering if he had made the cut in time for the countdown. I'm surprised at some of the names I've already seen pop up outside the top 10, thus far.

You can thank Coach Saban and our amazing staff for that. 7 years ago, each one of these guys would've been a #1 crown jewel. Get a recruiting class full of them and we have the luxury of choosing between Fillet mignon and prime rib. Life is great at the Capstone right now.

I don't think comparing Duron to Julio is fair. All they have to compare is size. Julio's freshmen year stats were 58 rec 924 yds 4 TDs where as Duron had 13 rec 176 yds 1 TDs. Duron will help us in the run game, WR screens and red zone but I don't see him being an elite WR. I know that he's got the size and ability to contribute to the pass game we have but don't expect JJ version 2 b/c it won't happen unless we can get DGB

I just hope he shows up with his head on straight to hit the books and work hard toward playing time. If that happens, we may see a void somewhat filled by the departure of Julio!! RTR!!

I still think he's going to be a big contributor to the passing and running game while at UA but I don't want people to think they're getting Julio part 2 b/c they'll be disappointed in Duron by the time he leaves. Julio is a once in a decade type of player and you don't fill that gap the next year. I still think if DGB comes to UA then the comparisons will be justified but let's let Duron be Duron, not Julio Jr
