I don't know if this list is complete, but these are the guys I've seen who are listed as committed to us for next year's (2012) class.

Matthew Goodson, Oxford, AL
Mikey White, Spain Park
Kyle Overstreet, Boaz
Colton Freeman, Hoover
Mitch Greer, Edgewood Academy
Ray Castillo, Russell Co (just added yesterday actually)
Georgie Salem (Emeel's cousin, if I remember correctly)
Keaton Haack, Northwest Guilford Oak Ridge, NC
Jackson Stephens , Oxford, AL (don't know why I thought he was 2013...)

Anybody know anything about any of these guys?

I have heard many great things about these guys. Hopefully most/if not all of these players make it to school. Heard Mikey White did really well at a USA Baseball event this summer and may be playing more for USA. The Goodson kid is a homerun type guy, the Overstreet kid is a solid all-around player, the Greer kid is a big-strong boy, I believe Castillo is a pitcher and if he is the one I have heard about, he is pretty good. The Salem kid is Emeel's cousin and is really fast.

I know the Castillo kid was added late but don't be surprised if he is the most talented. I seen him pitch against Briarwood in the playoffs and he is a typical Rasmus built prospect. Very polished/Advanced change-up that grades out a 80 (Mlb scout score) with a heater 88/90. Change-up is so good, fastball appears 94 on the hands with run. Family has already told scouts to save their pick if he is not in the top 6 rounds. The kids last outing came last week when he went 6 strong innings at East Cobb against the San Diego Show (very elite team) and give them their first loss. BTW, the show later won the 200 team National Championship.

I went a did a little more looking at the Perfect Game site, which is llike Rivals and Scout for football. They have the 2012 recruiting class listed at #10. The 2011 class was ranked #44. Just a guess, I don't think the 2009 class was very high. I talked to one of my close friends here in Tuscaloosa and he said that the REAL hope for a new baseball stadium might be exciting some of these recruits. Going back to the 2012 class, I talked to some people that tell me that the 2 outfielders that we have committed (Salem and Goodson) are as good as any team has in the country. Both can fly, have major league arms, and can kill it. Also, Mikey White and Overstreet from Boaz could step in and play immediately as freshmen in the infield. Regarding Salem and White, I followed their dads when they played football for Bama in the 80's. Pretty cool!

We just moved into 10th with Jackson committing. As far as a new stadium, that would definitely excite me. I did notice they took down the ad for the STS Right Field Seating addition that was on the construction admin site. Bid was due on May 17th along with the bid for the renovation of the MMAF parking lot, but they released the bid for the MMAF parking, but not the STS bid. Then I saw where they were accepting other bids for MMAF parking in a different ad, without mention of the STS.

Who knows what that all means, but maybe it means they decided not to add seating, but to add a new stadium instead... Who knows?

The 2012 class is going to be full of studs, but the big thing (as always) is getting them by the draft. It doesn't do us a bit of good if they're all-world but never make it to campus.

This class sounds really good - hopefully it'll mean we aren't relegated to playing third-tier Tuscaloosa natives day in and day out from 2013 on
