*** 2013 Fall Camp Thread ***

You can never tell. Kamara could be the starter by November. This is the SEC and the tailback position has it in the job description about taking blows to the body. We've been relatively lucky with tailback injuries but they have happened and depth has been what has saved us. Most teams couldn't have taken the injuries at tailback last year and won a title.

Amen, brother.

I don't think that can possibly be overstated...

Totally agree. And not just at RB, how many teams could have won a title with the injuries at WR like we had with White, Black, and Bell going down?

Reading Coach Saban's comments about today's scrimmage, I would think this was a 3 win team. BUT...the AP Poll came out today. We're #1. We've been picked #1 in just about every pre-season poll there is. So this is nothing more than him tearing down whatever the media and others are building up, just to keep everything even. I remember in 2010 (which, in my opinion, was the most talented team of all Coach Saban's teams here) everybody saying that we "should" win it all. Had the all-access show and all that nonsense, but when it came down to the come down, we couldn't get it done. Don't need to go through anything else like that. So yeah...I'm echoing Coach Saban. If it means the team staying hungry and needing someone to doubt them, I'll say it: "You guys stink!"

Yeah CNS did not seem happy at ALL with the focus and mental effort today. Seems like it must have been a really sloppy, sluggish, and mistake riddled scrimmage. Hopefully the 2 days off will allow the guys to get their focus back. It's no excuse but I'm sure 19 practices in 2 weeks is pretty mentally draining. On a side not I hope the sloppy scrimmage didn't have a negative effect with the 4 high profile visitors today.

Lastly the part about Sims slinging up 'Hope' throws is not very encouraging. We really needs Del Rio or Morris to 'Get It' pretty quick and take over the #2 spot.

I agree and that capital one bowl vs Michigan State is still one of my favorite games to watch.

Saban was simultaneously not pleased with the OL nor the pass rush...he's really been pushing the LOS guys recently in interviews. I think the OL and DL have a lot of potential but their respective development is the pivot point for the whole team. The LBs should be good but we need to see good linemen to make them excel. Likewise, we have a veteran QB and proven skill players but if the OL is shaky then they won't be elite.

I'd rather see a scrimmage like this now to find the deficiencies and coaching points for the staff now than doing the Spurrier-like fun-time scrimmages. The fact our team does a bunch of 1 v. 1 scrimmages are why we have all these championships. I'm concerned but I know a lot of it is rhetoric from Saban to push the guys to their potential.
