2016-2017 Coaching Carousel

Mac is a decent coach, but he isn't as near as good as his record and trips to Atlanta suggest. I think we will get a clear picture when Muschamp's defensive recruits graduate.

And once Mac has his own offensive starters. Muschamp left the cupboard essentially bare at the skill positions. Compound that with injuries (Florida has lost 8 starters this season) and you have a recipe for 'meh'.

I still think Mac will be a great coach for them.

If anything the 2 seasons give him some leeway, but I'm not sure if he is going to give them the end results they want (the third era). Maybe maybe not, but I'm not sold just yet.

FL has also had an insane amount of injuries. Between that and him having to really rebuild an AWFUL OL situation Coach Mac has done an incredible job. The folks calling for him to be fired are literally insane IMO.

No one has called for him to be fired so I don't know where you got that from.

Have you not heard some of their fans talk? I've heard the hot seat reference from scores of UF fans griping about how they were supposed to be getting an offensive guru and how the defense has carried Mac around and propped up his failures. Believe me, that sentiment is out there and the % of UF believers is significant. He hears it. And yes, I think their insane.

Since he resigned, does he forfeit the buyout he would have gotten if they had fired him?

Depends - they sometimes negotiate the buyout when a coach resigns. But if he just walked away and they wanted him to stay, he would get nothing.

Yahoo reporting Purdue has hired Western Kentucky head coach Jeff Brohm. Good hire for Purdue.

Yeah, but is it a good job for Brohm? Purphew! is a graveyard of coaches, and long has been, Joe Tiller almost aside. Bill Battle could've had the head coaching job there in the mid-70s when UcheaT axed him, instead he wisely decided to forego coaching at least for the immediate future, and ended up never getting back into it ever.

Brohm is a popular name, so if he can withstand issues next year and get 7 or 8 wins the following two years, I suspect he gets a bigger job.
