Levi Wallace played really well in his absence...we will be alright against UF's offense. Need MH back for the playoffs, though.
Right, I bet you really hate this guy...The follow-up was about Hurts. You guys can say that you are okay with Saban treating people like this if you wish. I would never be okay with an OSU employee treating another person like this.
Saban said they hope he'll be good to go Saturday after resting a day or so.how is his hamstring?
Back to practice report.... Hump...
This is a good read but I must also recommend watching a short video entitled: "Ode to Defense" set to the 1812 Overture (you know the bit with the cannon fire and bells at the end of the last movement.
There's another side to that coin. We have had some injuries which would have devastated other teams but we have the developed depth to overcome it. Other teams don't. At one point, we were depending on our third string RB to carry the bulk of the load...Yeah, I just read this and was going to point it out. Florida's defense isn't going to be the same. They are going to have a lot of people out.
He doesn't have to. They do it automatically...I also almost wonder if they give the media some of these questions?? Gave him a chance to send the message. :conf2:
I hate it because it's one of those injuries which hand with you for years - hams, ankles, groins. I ran my PB in the 10K, having been out west backpacking, which doesn't stress the hamstring that much. I was dating a girl at the time who thought she knew something about massage therapy and she made it worse with her elbows. It still tightens up on me when cold, these decades later...As you posit later in the thread, I too am guessing that it's a hammy.
In which case, I'd be surprised if we see him this Saturday.
And would be more than a little happy to see him rest it / undergo the necessary therapy to be ready for the playoffs...
I still wince when I remember Marquis Maze pulling up lame in the NCG against LSWho...
Of course, he had just completed the longest return of the year against that mouthy LSWho punter - who had gotten up in his grill on a previous punt...
He He He...
Thankfully, we have a top notch medical / health care staff to manage Hump's recovery...
Good point. There's another side to that coin. We have had some injuries which would have devastated other teams but we have the developed depth to overcome it. Other teams don't. At one point, we were depending on our third string RB to carry the bulk of the load...
Comments like this are why folks want you to leave TF.Nope - when the same reporter asked a follow-up, Saban jumped on him again. That is flat wrong. The reporter asked a legit question. and Saban acted like a total jerk. This is all on Saban. The media in Alabama are sheep for accepting that.
I can say I'm not one of those people. He does bring something to TF even if it is an outside influence.Comments like this are why folks want you to leave TF.
No such things as 3rd sting rbs. There's another side to that coin. We have had some injuries which would have devastated other teams but we have the developed depth to overcome it. Other teams don't. At one point, we were depending on our third string RB to carry the bulk of the load...
Nope. And I'm absolutely sure I'm in the majority. B1G is always welcome here.Comments like this are why folks want you to leave TF.
Being fine with a rival fan that comes in and criticizes and nitpicks your head coach seems like a foreign idea to me, but ok.Nope. And I'm absolutely sure I'm in the majority. B1G is always welcome here.
Projecting again, are we?Comments like this are why folks want you to leave TF.
Are you mad? You seem mad.Projecting again, are we?
There are many frequent posters over whose departure from Tidefans I'd shed no tears; people who post little if anything of substance and seem mainly interested in impressive-looking post counts with contributions such as "I was thinking the same thing," or "Are you mad? You seem mad." B1G is the antithesis of that, even when I disagree with him (and in this particular case, I'm closer to his position than most others seem to be, but that's not the point).
The reporter never said the game didn't matter. He was following up on a player's earlier comment about always competing to win.
That said, the thing a lot of folks continue to miss here is the difference between heat and fire. Reporters who cover Alabama know the deal. When Saban gets emotional, he does a good job not turning it into a personal attack -- as Urban did at the Florida practice ("You're a bad guy.") or as tough guy Mike Gundy when he went after the reporter for writing what turned out to be the truth, fed to her in part by Gundy's staff.
Nick Saban barks, true. But he also answers questions about as thoroughly as any football coach in America. The reporter's job is to ask questions whether Saban likes them or not. To his utmost credit, even when the coach dislikes the question, he answers it. Sometimes he actually appreciates being given the opportunity to address something that's been gigging him for a while. That clearly was the case Monday. He was speaking to his players as much as anybody else.
In no way did he put anybody in their place. He helped them do their jobs, as they helped him do his.
