It's at the point now where I feel legitimate anxiety about injuries any time I check this board.

I hate that it happened but guys are simply going to have to step up. Whether it be Holcombe, McMillon, Chris Allen, Whoever. If Mack is back to 100% for the game, others will simply have to provide quality depth.

It's not a matter simply of guys stepping up - the head coach and staff have to be willing to let some other guys play to spell Wilson and Evans.

Trying to be a "glass half full" guy right now, but the only positive spin we can put on this is that it happening now (as opposed to in the game) allows the defensive staff to manage the situation better.

I would seriously wrap Mack Wilson in bubble wrap leading up to this game. Limit his practice time, let him heal. Don't let him get injured. Have a personal bodyguard with him at all times. Whatever.

I agree. I am not sure how much contact they are doing in practices right now, or how much they will be with full pads, etc. It seems the staff should be extra cautious though, especially with our defense. They can stay in shape other ways and just do walk through's or something.

I thought yesterday's practice was fundamentals? Dylan must have hurt it tackling someone? There seems to be too many foot injuries this year. Maybe the players should also take extra calcium and vitamin D 3 supplements and drink more milk just to get some help with the bones. I know they have a great nutritionist on staff. I am just frustrated right now, hearing this news.

After a while, you begin to wonder if there's not something systemically wrong in practice, just too many practice injuries, not to mention game injuries, particularly to the LBs...

If they were of the same nature I might agree, but these are all over the place - elbow injury, bicep injury, knee cap injury, foot injury (twice now) - just weird and random stuff.

don't forget ankle (Jennings 2 games) and groin (Evans, 2 games)

Could be though that we've put such a premium on explosive speed at the LB position that it's creating some additional stress (235 pounds running 20+ MPH and then turning) on lower body that it's resulting in the situation we are seeing now.

Are you thinking it is a conditioning issue? Or the way they are practicing?

I'm not so sure those couldn't have some common nexus...
Maybe the workouts are too strenuous and it eventually takes it's toll with the muscles, bones, ligaments, cartilage, etc. Injuries can start slowly and you don't realize it's happening until something finally triggers it.

I trust Scott Cochran.. he has been there a long time. I am certainly not blaming it on him, but just wonder if he has changed his workout program at all since last year? Just curious. It just seems like too many injuries this year to be freak accidents.

Let's hope for injury-free practices between now and Jan. 1!

With the gps based Catapult system UA uses, Jeff Allen and the training staff, along with Cochran, they have so much data available to them regarding player health.
I just can't see that the rash of injuries was somehow preventable short of playing flag football

And the offense has to show up for the playoffs. We just can't have a bunch of three and outs in a row again. Offense, please unleash the hounds and help the defense out!!
