Being reported that Bret “Bert” Bielema as the next coach at Illinois.

I lost a lot (if not all) of respect for Bielema for his shenanigans in the game we played against his piggies in 2015. He jumped into a little little group of Bama/Arky players who were arguing, bodies up against Cam Robinson and started pushing him. Cam raised his arms up and Bielema staggers back like he's been shot in the head, drawing the 15 yd penalty on CR. Then Bielema dances a goofy jig in celebration. What a clown.

In the same game, when Kenyan Drake runs out of bounds on the hog sideline, Bielema comes charging down, acting like he doesn't see KD and deliberately gives a little sideways shot to Drake. He's a real asshat.

SOURCES: #Alabama staffer Major Applewhite is expected to become the new offensive coordinator at #SouthAlabama. Two other Crimson Tide staffers are joining him at USA: Gordon Steele will be the O-line coach and Rob Ezell will be the TE coach. Ernest Hill will be Jags RB coach.

Agreed, but all we heard were reports from "sources" then, right? He might not have even been offered that job.
True. But you would think Rivals and 24/7 reporting Applewhite as “hired” not “offered” (12/13) would be pretty reliable. It could be Applewhite did accept in principle but for some reason USA was a better fit and Butch gave him his blessing?

With Tennessee season over now, I think Pruitt get fired this week.
Probably so, and he just got the dreaded vote of confidence from Fulmer. Apparently Fulmer was happy about getting a Liberty Bowl berth, and talked about what a great primer it would be for Pruitt and the returning players heading into spring practice.

If he had agreed to go to ASU with Butch this doesn't look good for Applewhite.
Or maybe the Major was still minoring in some of the stuff that got him into a little 'nuff said at a previous stop, and Arky State decided it didn't look good for Arky State.

FWIW, Finebaum had John Talty on this afternoon (I happened to be flipping stations when he announced the upcoming interview).

As of roughly 4:30 CT today, Talty says the current leader is Bill Clark of UAB.

More interesting than that, Talty said the following:
- Billy Napier was offered the job, but turned it down to stay at Louisiana. You read that right....turned down Auburn to stay at the University of Louisiana, f/k/a Louisiana-Lafayette.
- Sarkisian declined the interview.
- Kevin Steele was the initial frontrunner, and still has the backing of some powers. But he doesn’t have the backing of all of them, and the anti-Steele crowd is starting rumors and spreading anti-Steele stuff on social media

Assuming Talty knows what he’s talking about (and that‘s a leap of faith when you’re dealing with what passes for journalism today), how Auburn is all that?
