Same here. Sanders wouldn't actually win the general, but if he magically did at least he wouldn't lock children in cages. Still, please don't make me vote for Bernie. He's the far left's populist equivalent of Trump whose campaign is fueled by class division rather than racial division, and the last thing this country needs is someone seeking to deepen our internal divides rather than bridge them.
If Bernie is the nominee then I will vote for him. But I won’t like it. The fact that he endorsed Cenk Uygar and gave a half ass reason for retracting it shows he is the Trump equivalent on the left. FTR he is a better human being but he is just as much the political idiot as Trump.

I hope Warren kicks his ass fast.

Unfortunately, Warren has decided that she cannot attack Bernie and has been throwing salvos at Pete for the past few weeks. Tonight will be interesting if that calculus changes. But she cannot win while Bernie is polling near 20%.

I like Mayor Pete, but I think this is a race that kinda turned from "Lets attack Biden" to " Lets eliminate Pete and Kamala" for the progressives. Warren should really start hammering Bernie if she wants to win. Because less progressives is the best kinda election for her.

Agreed. I expect Warren and Sanders to continue attacking Pete/Amy tonight and for everyone to just forget that Biden is on the stage (including Biden himself).

This is a very interesting article on the effects and composition of political donors.

The nuanced political impact of wine cave fundraisers, explained

tl;dr Among Democrats, big donors are more notably more progressive than non-donor Democratic voters, but small donors are even more left-wing than big donors. The same dynamic exists in the Republican party.

Absent donor influences, Democrats would generally be more moderate (especially on social/cultural and environmental issues) and Republicans would also be more moderate (especially on economic and environmental issues). And [if we had public campaign financing] even heavily gerrymandered districts (or deeply blue or deeply red Senate races) would feature well-financed candidates who are able to chase the median voter and ignore donors.

This is in some ways an attractive possible vision of the future of politics. But it’s fundamentally different from the vision of getting Democrats to eschew big donors in favor of small ones. The small-donor vision really would move Democrats to the left — not by freeing them of donor influence, but by replacing the current leftward influence of donors with an even-further-leftward influence.

Just checking in to say that Bernie Sanders is still the only good candidate. Quote and meltdown below.

:D
Well he did endorse an Armenian Genocide denier, race baiter, and guy that named his organization The Young Turks....

I wonder what would happen if one of his opponents was to endorse someone that was a Holocaust Denier, race baiter, and named his organization The Hitler Youth....

I didn’t know the guy was an Armenian Genocide denier or race baiter until the mainstream media pounced on his misstep. I still hope he wins his seat. He may be a piece of crap but if he votes for left agenda then I don’t really care. I don’t need politicans to be someone I want to hang out with...that is cursed lib crap because y’all have contentless platforms of status quo so your candidate being a fren is all that matters to y’all

Also, isn’t it race baiting when you advertise your presidential candidate as ”just like your abuela and she’s always got hot sauce in her purse”

He has been called out on it for about 10 years because he has published articles about it numerous times in the last 30 years and still funds organizations that denies it. Calling the organization the Young Turks is about the same as someone calling their organization “The Guevara Revolutionaries”. Sure they idolize the progressive aspects of their namesake, but they completely ignore the overwhelming needless innocent death toll that they are directly responsible for

The fact that Bernie endorsed that racist slime ball Shows a severe lack of judgement. Anyone who votes for Cenk (Who is running outside of his district mind you) is part of the problem with politics. It’s sacrificing the truth for a political agenda.

I feel like political agenda alone is paramount in politics. Many liberals not believing that to be the case is why they continue to be surprised by conservatives voting for frauds like Trump or pests like Roy Moore.

I did a poor job of evading it because I just let the system censor it. I didn’t realize that I could’ve just called FDR an ass and been fine but calling him the sphincter was a no-go.

Isn’t that the logic Trumpies use in supporting him?

That is partly my point. Conservatives seem incoherent in who they prefer on evaluations of personal character but they’re actually relatively consistent when you look at their larger agenda. If you seek to repel American conservatism - I call it practical fascism but that is just my opinion - then it must start with coherent, consistent agenda that people will broadly support. As long as a candidate isn’t actively seeking to genocide Armenians I couldn’t give a damn if they were failed by their history classes and come across as a dummy from time to time. I don’t really care if they said some sexist stuff in the past as long as it is abundantly clear they have grown as a person today. Clinton was not pro-LGBT for most of her life but when I voted for her I didn’t expect a rollback for the social gains made in that community.
