Why would anyone sell a ring they worked so hard to earn, that has so much meaning to the rest of the Alabama world? Money problems? It lost its meaning to its owner? The going price is $7,500. A third-party broker is selling it.

Is it listed as a specific player’s ring? Could be a low level staffer selling it.

It is listed as a specific player's ring, but the player's signature and jersey number engraving have been blocked out for privacy. It has been authenticated. I showed the wrong price earlier. It was a little more -- $7,750.

These come up occasionally.

Normally, if the recipient is a player, especially one who played a lot, there’s a sad story behind selling a life milestone like this.

In the case of the Wilson 1961 ring, there has to be a story. His son almost blew his own foot off in a shotgun accident. The son’s football career was in serious question. But he ended up being an anchor of the 1992 National Championship OL.

So I’m curious about that one. Or maybe I don’t want to know.

Same here. Maybe I want to know, maybe not. The little on him looks like he led a good life and had a family -- son and grandchildren -- to pass this on to. They may be Auburn fans, though.
